The gameplay videos already made it clear that it's extremely shallow consoleshit. There's potential in melee and physics based gameplay in a primal age setting but they just made it "press button to X" paired with standard console fps mechanics. It'll bomb hard as it's already too bland in its gameplay premise. It's basically Crisis 1 without the suit/stances and guns.

Far Cry as a series needs two to the back of the head. I really dug FC3 and FC4 was very enjoyable as well, but it's just more of the same with less soul. Ubisoft is making it into their next Assassin's Creed, and the fact they're making fucking Primal $60 is just a testament to that.
Just end it Ubi. Try something new. Make FC5 in like the late 2010s when you have something new to add.

FC3 really was a rare AAA diamond in the rough in the 2010s. It had its flaws, but I get the feeling it may have been rushed out the door, and a sequel that waited longer than FC4 would've been killer. I'm also probably one of the only people who actually liked the Jason Brody character; it's a shame people hated the fact that his words didn't always match up with your actions so Ubi completely dropped anything resembling a characterized protagonist in 4.

i really liked far cry 3 and 4.
the setting for primal looks great... but after watching the gameplay video it's literally just a cheap mod for far cry 4. like, the menus and buttons and everything was exactly the same.
i was okay with far cry 4 being a rehash of far cry 3 because i think it had really good gameplay and i was ready to jump into the game again but in a new setting. but this is just another direct rehash, and that's too much for me.

Imagine a Far Cry game with tanks or drivable Black Hawk helicopters. Add some more guns and weapon types too. So much potential with a desert theme.

I loved Farcry 3 and really enjoyed Farcry 4 but 4 isn't quite as good. It's obvious they rushed it a bit by not bothering to think of any reason for the character to have agency so accepts missions just because, there's no equivalent to the arm tattoo showing your skill upgrades, they didn't put the time into making the presentation as good in the menus like the butterfly guns loading icon in 3, the eagles which would sometimes come out of nowhere to take a chunk of your health were poorly thought out etc. Ubisoft just wanted to crank out a sequel so 4 doesn't have the love put into it that 3 had.
