ITT: Wasted potential

You feel it too, don't you?
I remember /v/ hyping CB up.
I still remember drooling at the concept art of this shit. So much lost ;_;
It should have been a WiiU remaster, so at least it would have sated disgruntled Metroid fans. and it would have padded out the WiiU drought.
Too many kickstarters, this one more than others.
Thankfully the sequel's working on some of the gameplay flaws, but I'm really hoping this series can get better with the plots. This game was damn near 50 chapters long and 90% of that is not a god damn thing happening with the story.
There's like ONE chapter where Skeith attempts to hack Zero and Feydooms assist by accessing his memories to replicate Iris, making Skeith's job easier by making Zero believe he's communicating with an Iris from the afterlife or something, so the party needs to fight through the map to get shit done before he fully corrupts. That kind of shit's cool, I just wish it would even attempt stuff like this more often so that 90% of the game isn't just mindless filler of going world to world with bosses being vague about plans and bullshit.
This game establishes Darkstalkers, Devil May Cry, and Ghosts and Goblins sharing a demon world. A fun idea, but it doesn't fucking do anything with it besides Jedah making a comment about Sparda to Dante. Even if the gameplay remains mediocre, just doing more stuff to have different franchises mingle better could make it all more worth it.

Jesus, this game let me down so hard I was really fucking mad
Nobody is talking about this...

Contra Force
StarTropics
that feudal Japanese sequel to River City Ransom
First and third were cripped by slowdown, second one was full of bullshit design decisions.

You.
Codename STEAM
>>319233778
It was a weird game, almost like a gta final fantasy. Would've been alot better if the combat system went further than
>pick nearest object up and throw it at enemy
>>319234606
Too linear
Combat sucks
Boring
I really regretted playing this game...
>>319235656
Why is Alisa from God Eater there?
Starbound.
>>319235653
My god, so much this.

Is the wasted potential the game itself, or the fact that they chose to make Crystal Bearers instead of a more traditional FF:CC sequel?
Still, it's a pretty neat game. Dumb, in a lot of ways, but still fun.

It just didn't go anywhere. The story was mostly "here's a really cool opening. Then nothing but a really bad Bahamut boss fight and going to random places. Now here's an abrupt ending" the world had some cool Easter eggs, but mostly boring side quests and the story was way too short. At least it had a cool idea/lore and nice characters.

If you mean company wise, God Eater's Namco Bandai.
If you mean storywise, it's dimension/time travel fuckery.
>>319233778
Holy fucking shit, this game starts out with the best JRPG intro I've ever seen, climaxing with you riding a fucking spear through Bahamut's chest in the first ten minutes.
And then it's all downhill from there.
>>319238383
Hardly a jrpg, its more like a minigame collection disguised as an adventure game sandbox.
>>319233778
>I expected Kingdom Hearts + Shadow of the Colossus
Guess I'll have to make it myself...
>>319238383
>climaxing with you riding a fucking spear through Bahamut's chest in the first ten minutes.
That boss is a few areas in, actually. The intro is just the airship crashing.
It'll be a load of BS if this game never gets a true sequel. The first game was nearly great. All that it really needed was a better, more epic (sorry) story. However, I understand why it wasn't. The game was up in the air in development for years, being traded back and forth between publishers.
