Orphan wasn't a god though. In fact, as much as people say the FF games kickstarted certain JRPG tropes, none of them has had the party kill a god as the final boss. The closest to that would probably be III, VI and IX, since Cloud of Darkness and Necron are essentially abstract forces of nature and Kefka pretty much becomes a godAFAIK.
