The go-to strategy used to be 102/98 for bonuses.

Combo is everything in Recettear. The game became 10000x easier once I figured this out.

It's well worth selling things at low-ish prices, or even at a small loss, if it maintains your combo. As long as you aren't selling things at a loss constantly, you'll come out ahead of where you would have been if you focus on maintaining the combo above all else.

>>
>>319218041
You need to meet Tielle and Elan in the towns square at some point to recruit them. Griff too, but he's only there at night, and Euria might not be there then.

Euria's encounter only happens after you have a certain amount of money, so you could potentially recruit Tielle and Elan before she becomes a problem.

This.
Customer budget is a non-issue if they choose an item themselves.

That said, unless the item is red or you've already maxed everyone's budget already, there's no reason to not be setting it to 107% for everyone except slave fairy (100-101% for her cheap skank ass)

If you're picking out an item for her (ie "I want a hat!") then she's not going to able to afford very much. Really her biggest purpose is to keep combos going, you're not going to get much money from her so don't even try.

I don't know what you guys have been doing but back when I started I usually just jew them at 105%
but later when I finished the debts I just jew them at around 115%
the guild guy and the husband and most adventurers usually accept 118-120 and 45-39 when selling. When prices increase I sell as high as 287 for the old man, guild guy and husband but just 270 for the adventurers.
the mom, fairy and the loli at 115-111 and 55-45 when selling. around 250 for the mom and 220 for the fairy and the loli when prices are high.
Euria at 200
rich bitch at 130 and 25 when selling. 300 when prices are high.

Well the lowest she goes is 151%, so you can technically earn something if you buy then and sell when it's rare. No haggle minimum is 200%, so you could still earn something.
But her near pin is 355% which is higher than what Alouette buys red items for so it's impossible to make your money back, let alone earn something.

This is the worst part of the game. It doesn't tell you this shit anywhere and it would be almost impossible to figure it out without a guide, not only that but it heavily discourages haggling which had potential to be one of the deepest mechanics in the game.
>>
>>319235351
Just because everyone here likes to joke about attempting to jew every customer out of every penny they can doesn't mean that is how the game works.

I think there's somewhere early on the game tells you to give customers prices they would find acceptable. A little girl trying to spend her allowance is going to be frugal, its no wonder she doesn't appreciate you giving her insane markups on everything.

>>
>>319236048
That doesn't change the fact that haggling is really fun until you realize that not haggling with customers magically gives them more money later in the game for no discernible reason. It was something fun but they make doing it ruin the game.

Not to mention that the messages for "I don't think this item is worth that much money to me" are almost exactly the sames as "I don't carry that much spending money," customer levels aren't explained anywhere, you only find out about them at all through dumb luck, and the idea of connecting 30% markdown not getting a sale with invisible customer budgets and those invisible customer budgets with another invisible customer level is ridiculous. And missing even one connection in that chain means you will continue playing the game wrong and then get butt fucked later on because you need to sell bigger items and none of your customers can afford them.
>>
>>319236048
Tear also tells you that 130% is a suitable entry point and encourages haggling with the customers.

It's a shitty tutorial that screws people over rather than help them.

Yes, but haggling with customers will ruin the combo and will make raising the merchant level harder. The merchant level also happens to be one of the key factors to beating the game.

Not only that, but putting the price too high means that you'll have a harder time getting near-pin bonuses to help raise the budget of your customers as well as getting more merchant xp.
>>
>>319237867
If you give customers the price they have in their mind the first time without haggling you get a bonus and it gives that class of customer "exp"

Do this enough and customers will level up and start carrying more money when they come to your store, so you can sell them bigger things. Players often try to jew everyone over, which ends up with a bunch of little girls that cant afford anything and OP's frustration.

The bonus comes from getting items sold consecutively without having to haggle, and gives you more merhcant exp.
>>
>>319237851
It's anti-Jewish propaganda

If you try to haggle for the best prices, you'll lose around the second week

If you try to get people reasonable prices that they'll accept without haggling, you get bonus reputation and experience
>>
>>319237116
>>319237334
Tear's actual dialogue from the tutorial:
>As might be obvious, if a customer is satisfied with your offer, it is a sale and you get a little bit of experience along with the money.
>If your price is too high however, a customer can simply walk out.
>Learning to determine the proper price - there lies the challenge!
>Now, if a customer disagrees with a price, but not so much that they want to storm out, then you can negotiate.
>Remember what I said about comfort earlier? That is the key here.
>Offer a price, but do not make it so outrageous that the customer feels you are not acting in good faith.
>So if they disagree but stay, offer a new price.
>Ideally you will lower your offer a little, and they will take it and give you a sale
>Some customers may just be trying to sniff out a better price when they are really willing to pay your initial price, however.
>Whether or not your risk testing that possibility is up to you.
>How long you can keep haggling... well, that depends on how regular the customer the person in question is.
>As we are starting out, you will not be able to haggle for very long, but after customers begin to trust us a little, you can haggle for a longer period of time.

>Alright then. Now for the fine art of haggling. Theoretically, what you wish to do is lower your price slowly, but as I mentioned, there is a limit to how long you can haggle.
>The idea is to deduce a customer's desired price and go from there.
>A large number of stores sell at about 30% over the base price.
>It is not a hard and fast rule, but people will usually accept that price level. ...Usually.
>if you can manage to go over that, you will make a lot of money, but you do not want to risk driving away a customer!

She never says 130% is a good starting price, just that some customers may accept that final price (after haggling)
The emphasis is made on learning the right price to sell at, and getting it right the first time.
>>
>>319241312
>The idea is to deduce a customer's desired price and go from there.
>A large number of stores sell at about 30% over the base price.
>It is not a hard and fast rule, but people will usually accept that price level. ...Usually.
I'd say she is suggesting 130% as a good starting price just by this.

>The emphasis is made on learning the right price to sell at, and getting it right the first time.
That's not what I'm getting from that conversation. The emphasis is to haggle in order to sell as high as possible, without overdoing it to the point where the customer walks out.
Nothing seems to indicate that you should try to sell things on the very first go without haggling.

>Do this enough and customers will level up and start carrying more money when they come to your store, so you can sell them bigger things.

That seems kind of convoluted but I'll keep it in mind

it is super weird because even the little girl can afford almost anything in the game if you only level her twice, but almost all customers become worthless after a while unless you level them at least once. It's possible to beat the game without knowing about that mechanic, but you need to make your shop look super fancy to attract only customers with high base budgets.

Decided to start up a new game
I love this game

She flat out says you need to find a customer's desired price. I concede its not a very good tutorial, but the claim that the game never explains how its supposed to work is just false. Nor does the game tell you to jew everyone from every last pix you can.

Its more "Guess 130% the first time and try what you actually settled on the next time you see them them" than it is "Always start negotiating at 130%"

The game doesn't even do a good job of indicating that the little girl is even the same little girl, you regularly see 2-3 instances of the same customer in the shop (unless they're story characters)
It's much more reasonable to think that means finding the right price for each sale through haggling.

That entire dialogue is focused around haggling though. She does encourage trying out some different prices, but a customer's "desired price" could very easily be interpreted by a new player as "the highest price a customer is willing to pay".

Louie is the best in my opinion.
I don´t know if it´s because i overpowered him, but any Dungeon is a breeze with him ( Charme is fast, but she dies too much for my taste).
Selling Dungeon stuff, from the best dungeons is key to get so rich you don´t even give a damn about the payments.
