Between all these events, we have about 5 minutes of footage.

All the Zelda game have a magic meter early in development. Sometimes the feature survives. Sometimes it doesn't.
Hopefully they show us something cool, like a cave. For some reason I really want to see what it looks like inside a cave in this game. Or even a building. All they've shown so far is overworld.

I read people's excitement for a magic meter all the time. And I don't really get it. I men, I kind of get it. But I'm not sure if people like yourself are really wanting a magic meter. I suspect that what you really want, is any mechanic that will create a bit of depth to resource management. Which is something that Zelda has become super lax about.

Personally, it's not really so much about resource management (though I do enjoy that), as it is simply about themes. I just like the concept of Link using magic. And I find items that use magic have cooler and more fantasy-inspired themes, like the Lens of Truth, Magic Cape or the Deku Leaf.
I would also argue that in those games (from LttP to WW), the world itself felt a lot more magical. That is primarily what I want with magic. Zelda thrives on memorable locations and characters, and I think the ones that feel "magical" are the most memorable of all.

I would be very glad to see those items return, and double so for new items that feel magical. Though I would feel a little disappointed that there was no meter. Not having a meter triggers my autism a little bit, because it wouldn't make sense for Link to conjure that stuff up out of nothing.
So I guess in that sense the resource aspect does have an impact.

What if they did this... Just throwing out idea here. You know how sometimes magic bottles can be hard to find in early zelda games? But they're too easy to find in new Zelda games. And even to the point where you magic regens.
What if they went back to the sparse magic bottle system. Except when you reeeeally want to use your magic, you can still do so by spending rupees. When you magic meter is empty, then you start using rupees in place of magic. OR, you go into your menu, and fill your meter up by pouring rupees into it.
This way, it would potentially turn those useless rupee treasures you get in dungeons, into a valuable resource. When you're deep in a dungeon, and you don't want to leave just because you forgot to bring enough magic. No worries, just spend some rupees, and you can continue on.
In order to balance it, you would have to make the cost of rupee use higher than the cost of a magic potion. So say a magic potion is 30 rupees. The same amount of magic fed off of rupees would cost 60 rupees

Think about it, anon. Rupees are shiny colorful gems, that are the most valuable object in all of Hyrule. I could reason that the reason they're so valuable, is for their magical properties. Especially when amassed. I imagine them being melted down, and distilled into even stronger stones. Like the moon pearl, or the pendents of virtue or the spiritual stones.
Perhaps, if there was a menu screen with a green pot. And you dumped the rupees in, and heated them to melting, and then that somehow created something of a home brewed magic potion you can drink to restore your meter. Then that would be better?
