As one of the biggest defenders of the Vita you'll probably find on this site, I'm hard pressed to say it's better than the DS on its own merits. If you toss in backwards compatibility then maybe - PSP games without the irritating UMD bullshit is a better boon than playing GBA games, especially since one of the best ones (WarioWare Twisted) is a pain to play on DS - but even then Vita has its sincere shortcomings. If we're running the BC angle in general though then 3DS kinda runs away with it. Not the best successor library-wise but hey, it can play DS games. Funny, that.

that's not what the patent describe since cloud haven't been invented by nintendo. This system doesn't stream games, and you still have your copy processed by the console, but you can borrow online procesing power to somehow increase the game quality.
That said, the patent isn't really precise on how it would effectively work neither on hardware nor in software form. It's a vague idea, like all patents. NX might do something attempting to implement it in a way but that's it.
