There is no strategy in lol after the picking phase. The game is too inflexible to allow for strategies. All games have the same lane composition and boil down to farm fests for 15 minutes and then for the rest of the game both teams wander the map around until some idiot gets caught, repeat ad nauseum.

Dota 2 is still Dota, it's based on the original mod. I find it fun once in a while.
I think people are moving to LoL because league of legends is a snappier game, fast moving, vibrant sounds, visuals animations are bold and vibrant.
I think the cell shading bolded characters look great for this genre of game, the only thing that could be better would be realistic Skyrim tier graphics
Also the artwork constantly being drawn up, people are putting lots of love and effort into these things. Like they did with WoW at one time.
I still play league once in a while, a short binge of a few games maybe a few times a month, but not daily anymore.

LoL literally has no style. It's more like a mash of several ugly styles, all clashing together in garish effects and environments. Most characters seem to be built around a few big shapes and a couple of bringht colors, with a simplistic theme like pirate or cowboy.
It also has very restricted and streamlined game mechanics. I don't care that much about the whole genre though, so I don't have much say in that.
But I do care about art style, and LoL is abysmal in that regard

The primary reason Dota is better than League or HotS is because of the depth it has and how much you can do with your hero.
Often, as you gain a lead over the opponent, you scale not merely in terms of stats as is the case in League, but in utility. You add a blink dagger, then a force staff, or maybe euls staff, and suddenly the whole game changes and you can do so many sick plays. There's nothing like this in league. Most of the items just add chunks of stats, and there's no interesting outplay in having more stats.
Also, it's just so much more satisfying. Say you play Nami in League. It's very limited what you can do. You can try to land a bubble which does almost no damage and just stuns. Your ult slows a bit. Meh. But if you're for instance Earthshaker in Dota, you can turn an entire game around with a clutch ult, that's how powerful it is when used in the right circumstance. You can kill the enemy carry on your own or severely cripple the whole enemy team. There's just so much more you can do.
Also, in Dota, it's not just one region dominating all the time like in League. Each region has top tier teams that can beat the others. Even NA. So this also makes the scene a lot more vibrant.
