My experiance with the Dragon Quest games is basically playing VIII and thinking it was awesome, and it was always one of those series I meant to play, but never got around to it. Will I like this? Dragon Quest Heroes is more about defending weak points from waves of enemies, you can place some units around the map to change the flow so it's kind of Tower Defense-Lite on top of being an action game.
Also boss battles will give you the more aggressive AI you yearn for.
