It's pretty much always been blue, card draw and deck manipulation are the best mechanics for consistent wincons and blue does it best.
If you can accept being the local blue cunt and can accept the boredom of having your game go exactly the same way every time due to huge deck manipulation and card draw, there's no reason not to play blue.

I stopped playing magic a long time ago, but back then I had two main deck. A mono white knight deck who used that card that give all your knight the invicibility, and other knight creature buff. It worked really well, once I had 2 white mana I was basically done.
The other was a blue/black poison deck with those mosquitoes 1/1 flying poison in black, and 1/1 flying Proliferate in blue.
The first one was really strong, the second one was gimmicky as fuck but fun. Only autist play "high level competition", normal people just play with friends or in shops.

I had an Orzhov deck recently, I spammed Vizkopa Guildmage's secondary ability and won every 4-player game I had with Friends, it became boring so I just stopped using Orzhov. Only time it gets beat is when my other Friend uses a Mentor/Counter deck and gets tons of tokens whilst preventing anything useful coming out. Blue is best imo.
