Why aren't you playing Endless Legend?
>>
>>318748352
It's shit
>>
>>318748352
I don't meet the minimum requirements.
>>
>>318748352
It's crashing to desktop every 20-30 minutes. Good game otherwise.
>>
>>318748352
Played like 40 hours, enjoyed a lot but never tried DLCs and expansions. Should I?
>>
>>318748352

Because im at work. Will maybe boot it up when i get home. Im still not sure if i like the spy mechanics or not. Especially because my favourites are races that build high and not wide. And these are most vunerable.
>>

Yes.

Definetly yes, pirate if if needed, but damn the dlcs are pretty good.
>>

>>
>>318749042
This.
>>
>>318749287
Cultists and dosh lords are the shit. I always end up steamrolling everyone.
>>
>>318749158
They are, you can sneak entire armies into enemy territory without them knowing. The potential for ambushing and surprise attacks at the heart of enemy territory is brilliant. You can know your enemy's every move.
>>
>>318749452
Also with the new espionage mechanics for heroes you can have your heroes spying on enemy cities, letting you see what buildings they are constructing. You can also sabotage their bases and use your armies to invisibly pillage enemy extractors and minor faction tiles. In doing this you also knock out the tile's ability to produce anything for like 8 turns. The Forgotten are fun as fuck to play man.
>>
>>318749452
How is researching science with them? Is it a pain buying new techs?
>>
>>318749656

Im not that anon but from what i experienced.

The harder the ai the better it is for you, as you will mostly be either buying them or stealing them. And a shitty low level ai wont have anything to steal.

So you get a nice fast era 2 thanks to buying all low tier techs, then a slow process getting to era 3, then you start stealing all the good tech again and catapult yourserlf forward.

I still prefer cultists.
>>
This thread feels like 2 marketers replying to each other. Its fucking disgusting

What's the matter? Not enough DANK MEMES for you?
>>
>>318749656
Yeah you really do have to focus on collecting dust with them as much as you can, shit can get pretty fucking pricey but once you've got about 4 well developed cities up you shouldn't be having too much problems with dust. In theory if you manage your economy well you can grab a bunch of techs very quickly (buying techs has them researched instantly, no waiting, so you can buy multiple techs in a turn) giving you a quick technological edge on other factions. Most of the time you will be falling behind a bit in tech though, so it kind of forces you to spot weaknesses in enemy defenses and exploit them.
>>
>>318748352
Because Endless Space is better in every way.

I don't know whether this is bait or stupidity.
>>
>>318750058

Yea, thats why i dont like them. They have pretty ok units. But you are always somewhat lagging behind, but you are really scary adaptable. I mean somethings that with other races would take 10 or more turns to research and use, you can research and build in 1 if you have stocked up on dust.
>>
I haven't played it much yet, but I'm gonna get more into it today. Was a bit confusing, had to watch some YouTube videos that better explain it than the tutorial. I played Civ5 so it's not too hard for me to learn but some things kind of confused me. Think I've got it down now.
Learning about borough streets helped because the shitty tutorial neglected to tell you how to grow your fucking city.
>>
>>318750183
It's the truth. The combat in Legend is boring, there's too few units, the AI is beyond retarded, and I just personally prefer space over fantasy.
>>
>>318750308

Too few units? I dunno 3 per race + a ton of minor factions.

You can customize them quite a lot. And at least they started balancing higher tier materials, so i stop using max lvl glassteel only.
>>
>>318748352
I didnt like the UIs

Something about all of them was just off, wasn't as clean and simple as Civ.
>>
>>318750534
>3 per race
Is pretty shit

Should be 8 at least.
>>
>>318750648

8 at least would be a clusterfuck. With 3 + customizing you get to use the units from early game all the way into late game, and you can customize them to act like completely different units.
>>
>>318748352
Because I'm playing Dungeon of the Endless.
>>
>>318750736

Yeah no. They were lazy and didnt put enough effort into the units or the combat.

I love the game but since I started working 9 hours a day I just dont feel like playing these long lasting strategy games like EL or total war anymore. I just dont enjoy these games if I cant immerse fully for hours and if I try when I get back home at night I'm just too tired to focus.

Btw the latest faction felt a little bit overpowered but I didnt even finish a game with them yet.
>>
>>318750784

The combat is akward as fuck, i wont argue that, especially when your units go full retard at times.

But with units you would not be able to introduce more without making them feel the same. The whole thing endless legend has going for it is how drastically different the races and units are.

You are basically saying that the game that has 43 different units does not have enough different units, but should add 45 more?

>>318750852

Before you create the game go in advanced settings and set combat speed to highest possible, otherwise its unplayable.
>>
>>318750736
>8 at least would be a clusterfuck
Endless Space did 8, but it suffered from everything being very samey beyond minor aesthetics. "Here is a ship, here is a bigger ship, here is the biggest ship, the difference is cargo space."
>>
>>318751020
>You are basically saying that the game that has 43 different units does not have enough different units
No im saying the armies are limited as fuck which is true

Not a hard concept you seem to fail to grasp.
>>
>>318751030

Exactly, what EL does good is the customization, you can turn a unit into a badass cavalry slaying tank, or take the same unit and turn it into a fast moving archer killing glasscanon.
>>
>>318748352
It's not bad, but the combat system (with the very few units), tech tree and for me it didn't feel like you where actually progressing forward in tech.
Maybe I'm going to give it another shot some time
>>
>>318751030
Thats because their combat is shit and uninspired, not because having more units is flawed
>>
>>318751116
it also depends on how much time are you willing to spend customizing units, to be fair.
>>
>>318749918
>23 posters
kill yourself my man
>>
>>318751116

But that is not true at all, you get basic weapons that are really usefull each against certain races, then you get accesory and armor slots, that again depend on wich abilities you want your army to have.

You can make drastically specialized units if you want to minmax gear. The only thing in EL thats really shit is the combat and the combat AI.
>>
What happens when you play this online? I've never played a 4X game online, but wouldn't the turns be extremely long since there are effectively turns within turns because of the battle system?

Not sure about EL but some 4x games offer simultanious turns, so you can move stuff around somewhat in real time, and only have to wait for the other players to finish their turn for the next one to begin. So battles only prolong turns a bit.

>>318751543

Those stats... wat?
>>
Is there a guide for this shit? I like the game but it seems to have a nigh higher learning curve than civ.
>>
>>318749110
Change the world map to suit your faction of choice.

Windwalkers? Tundra.
Broken Lords? Arid.

The tooltips explain what types have more or less science/food/dust.

Broken Lords on a dust-rich map is ezpzlemonsqueezy.

You might want to boost the abundance of strategic & luxury resources, too. It honestly feels super fucking barren on the default.
>>
>>318750851
Dunno lad. I've been playing it online without a problem.
You do have friends to play with, right?

Because I can´t be assed to start a normal game after doing the tutorial (which explains only the tip of the iceberg I bet).

That and also I'm playing DS1 for the first time and I'm having a blast.
>>
>>318752650
>Normal is not too barren its just too random.
This is probably the truth of it.
It's really annoying when you've got a faction quest that requires strategic+luxury and there's fucking none to be found; or you have to expand for it, but you don't want to expand that soon and by the time you do it's turn infinity and you're getting quest rewards that feel targeted at turn 20.
>>
>>318748352
Because I prefer Endless Space, it's not the better game, i will admit that. but I can't stand the boring planet scenery of it, it's like so many other games and i much prefer the space vibe.

Endless Space 2 is looking very promising.

When I play the game game it can constantly generate new maps but the Xpack will just create the same map over and over. I have to make a map in the base game, load it up in the xpack. Then start a new game with xpack rules which causes it to pick the map I generated from the base game.

Also it is really annoying how they made so many parts of the game forced. Like with research, you have to get the harvest buildings. They should have made that you get some techs just from going an era up and less techs per tier

Except borough streets cost you happiness and having 90+ happiness gives you 30% more production and food, and all happiness together will give you +30% science and money. So while orough streets can give you a few more fields to exploit it will also probably reduce your effeciency. I usually wait until I have enough pop to put down a few of them in rapid succession to make a city Tier 2.
>>
>There's a city about DIPLOMACY

>>
>>318753927
Drakken is near unanimously agreed upon as one of the best factions because they can dictate when a fight happens just because they can force you to fuck off with their diplomacy.
>>
I enjoyed it but drakken are way too powerful last time I played so I found myself just face rolling with them
>>
>>318754281

Shame they're complete shit in literally every other way.
>inb4 custom factions

Slow as fuck units, no ranged units till T3, exploiting ruins only hurts expansion most of the time, their quests suck shit, heroes suck and their diplomacy doesn't mean shit against the AI.

You can't actually use DIPLOMACY to have other players help you indirectly or team up with you, it's literally just a clutch for cheating AI. And fuck playing with strangers.
>>
>>318754196
