Played shadow warrior with /v/ hyping it at all
The main character is the embodiment of Reddit and the gameplay is pretty dull, the only thing good about it was the level design and the gibs. Don't know why /v/ has such a hard on for garbage games
Never got that into Serious Sam. Just found it a bit too repetitive. It was missing something for me.
Loved Doom but this looks like shit. It basically looks like Halo in Hell. Pretty shitty.
Didn't play Shadow Warrior. Don't like melee combat at all in games and the original was only OK.
I was hoping they'd fix the weak guns in Shadow Warrior 2 but it looks like more of the same, which is okay I guess, but nothing to be hyped about.
SS4 is the only one that could potentially be good. SW2 is being made with co-op in mind, which I'm guessing will make it shitty as a single player game, not to mention consoles.

Serious Sam 4 is bound to be fucking great, but the fact that the guys who wrote Talos are onboard means that it might actually have a good story as well

The slowdown with the weapon switch is the only thing that really kills me. Just brings the whole gameplay to a grinding halt. Hopefully you can remove that in the options on the PC version. Also could do without the takedown moves but as long as it's not necessary to kill enemies I can live with it.

Unless Shadow Warrior 2 manages to be amazing(which I've seen the video footage of it and its not, it still looks like fun, but nothing amazing), then Serious Sam 4 wins by default. Sam 3 BFE is the worst Sam game out there(2 doesn't exist, fuck you) and even it was tons of fun, so if Croteam learned from its mistakes, Sam 4 is bound to be great as well, whether or not it'll be better than The First/Second Encounter will remain to be seen, but I'm confident it'll be better than BFE at the very least.

I dunno m8 I quite enjoyed smashing gnarrs with hammer. Weapon feel and gore was the best in the series. The only thing that bothered me was lack weapon and environment variety. Also it would be awesome if they would reintroduce those strange gravity levels from first and second encounter.

Serious Sam 3 was basically an abomination (ADS that actually increases accuracy, shitty-looking enemy animations, more guns need reloading) and Doom, while it does look pretty fast-paced and fun, has that execution bullshit

Oh and SS3 also has the worst-looking blood I've ever seen in a game by a large margin. Shooting gnaars with the assault rifle makes me want to bomb the Croteam HQ, absolutely horrible compared to the HD remakes and even the originals

What exactly do you mean? Active dodge is a huge plus, but every other system is just messy. The 3 layers of often boring upgrades, the gun upgrade layer only intensifying the balance issue, the cryptic style system, health scaling with the difficulty.

I'd disagree, in a way, I find that I enjoy games a whole lot less when I just pick them up for a couple of hours, drop them and move onto the next one. I like to tear them apart, in a way.
So when each game is an investment, it's less a chore, and more just knowing that you're going to spend the next 1000 hours getting through the sixty games I bought in the last sale.
