Thats a pretty cool way to get into anime full of lots of classics too. The first show I watched was Gundam Wing downloading those amazing yellow subbed avi files on dial-up was amazing. 2-3 days for one episode to download and one phone call would mean I had to start over.
I recently went through everything I have and redlownloaded the highest quality available BDs etc. Some remasters like Lodoss etc were done so well it's pretty amazing.

Lodoss was a rescan which is why it looks so good. It doesn't always turn out that way though. With modern anime you can only upscale it because there's no physical film to scan since it's all made on PC, so old anime is always going to look better than modern stuff.
Same with old film. I think we're getting a 4k version of Snow wight from disney soon too.
