Well then. The rest is okay despite the memery, but that thing is genuinely pretty shit as far as SSDs go. Mind you, it's still going to be fast as shit, but the other SSDs are just a few leagues above that.

i guess the i7 and 970 combo is future proofing?
im in the camp that goes GPU over CPU
would rather have a AMD cpu if it meant i could have a 980ti
i also am baka at the cooling option. it's not brown and it's not EVO, wtf is that.
why kingston? yucky. would rather have an ADATA ssd.

I hope you don't plan on keep the computer on for longer than 20 minutes.
>>
>>318427047
Its fine apart from the fact that you got a PSU made for SLI/overclocking rigs when your Motherboard supports neither of those functions.
So unless you plan on getting a dual gpu card or just simple futureproofing in case you upgrade in the next year or so I'd say its a slight waste on that part.

The 970 is fine, the only thing wrong with it is the false vram advertising.

Unless that is your workstation, there is no point in upgrading right now.

Get a better monitor instead, I know it feels good to crank everything to maximum but even the 970 is overkill for 1080p@60hz right now. Get another 980 and a QHD/UHD monitor instead of doing an unnecessary system upgrade.
>>
It's easy. Seriously, it's really easy to put together a PC.

The only scary part as a newb is the CRRK with the CPU
>>
>>318429652
If you do anything but game to use the performance go X99. Current prices are still extremely low due to the unwarranted Skylake hype and Broadwell-E is going to be compatible to socket 2011-3 (after a BIOS/UEFI update).
The only reason to go Skylake is if one wants to use Intel QuickSync.
>>
>>318430870
Honestly, the CPU lever wasn't that bad. Pushing in the RAM sticks in the old-style slots with latches on both sides was something else, what with the motherboard visibly bending

I'm glad they stopped shipping shitty fans with cpus now. I hate to get rid of a brand new yet shitty fan but it's not like I have a use for them.
>>
>>318431247
That's not the point. QuickSync gets updates with each processor generation and Skylake supports resolutions up to 4K at reasonable framerates while Broadwell only supports something between FullHD and UHD (can't be bothered to look it up, it wasn't WQHD but something odd). DMI3.0 also helps to provide bandwith for QuickSync purposes - when doing anything else on the side.
>>
>>318431212

>>
>>318431902
Well, the initial V300 revisions had decent synchronous NAND which made them rather fast, they offered mid-high range speeds at the cheapest prices on the market. A couple months after the glowing reviews and recommendations came pouring in, Kingston quietly switched the NAND for bottom-of-the-barrel asynchronous chips, absolutely destroying performance to the point of being outperformed by SSDs from 2010. The same revision is still in production today. It was so bad Kingston had to put out an incredibly spiteful PR release, pointing out how "yes our SSD is incredibly slow by modern standards, but it meets our asinine benchmarks and is faster than a mechanical HDD so shut up".

I don't know the panel lottery thing, I'd like if you could expand on that, but it's kinda hard to outjew Kingston on this one
>>
>>318431474
>DMI3.0
I'd say this is the real benefit - being able to use 4xPCIe lanes for an SSD while still having 16 for a GPU
>>
>>318431728
You should first connect the SSD and update the firmware - in case it's not running the latest version - as the 850 series had various issues. There should be a tool on their website to do that.
After that's done best install the OS from scratch to remove all the accumulated bloat and legacy crap. While you could in theory mirror the drive it's always a good idea to reinstall the OS and drivers at such opportunity. You can always copy important files over afterwards.
>>
>>318430870
for me it's the ATX power pin. i feel like im gonna hamfist the board in half and this last upgrade i did i almost cut my own throat because i thought my mobo was DOA, but it turns out the power cables were loose? im due for a new PSU, this one is pissing me off, the USB3.0 penis keeps falling out.
>>
>>318431728
its easier to just unplug every HD but the SSD, install windows fresh on the SSD, then set it to masterboot then just delete windows off the others or format them completely at your own leisure.
i tried to do a sysprep last week cuz new mobo and it failed, had to reinstall windows anyway.

Where did you buy the OS for €13
>>
>>318433067

1440p is unnecessary though
>>
>>318433067
depends on the game and resolution. some games are optimized to the hilt (NBA 2k series, Counter-strike, etc) and will run full 144 fps.
others not so well. but yes, a Fury is good enough for 1080 144hz.
>>
>>318433324
Yeah, if all you do is play manshoot games. For anything else, the extra screen estate is beyond convenient

>>
>>318433669

>>
>>318433067
Wait for the upcoming revisions and the FuryX2 - it's likely prices for the normal furys will drop by then. The 4GB are an issue at that resolution if you plan to use any AA (you still need some, even at 4K) - to a point where I'd recommend the 980ti because it has at least 6GB. You can also go with the budget solution of an 390 (non-X). Keep in mind that most modern games don't get anywhere near 144Hz/fps at 1440p and a much cheaper 60Hz screen is easier to take advantage of - you could save the money and buy a new screen/GPU once 1440p@144Hz are actually feasible (i.e. nVidia Pascal or similar).
>>

Look up what "screen tearing" is - an image search will do. You'd normally enable V-Sync to prevent that but on, say a normal 60Hz screen, it caps your fps at 60, 45, 30 or 15 - and it rounds down a step if you can't fully reach those. That means between 46 and 59 fps you'd only have 45. At 44 fps only 30 and so on.
Those transitions are somewhat uncomfortable and feel a bit like stutter because the game doesn't seem as smooth from one moment to the other and then could be smooth again - or vice versa.
V-sync also comes with noticeable input lag - which is the most prominent reason why gamers dislike it.
Right now it's either "getting screen tearing" or "enabling v-sync and having input lag".

G-sync (nVidia only) or Freesync (Intel/AMD and in theory also nVidia but they just don't want so they can sell their G-sync) prevents screen-tearing without the drawbacks of v-sync at any framerate. That means if you get 59fps you get 59 fps without tearing, no rounding down and (theoretically) no input lag.

One thing to note is that G-Sync costs up to 100$ extra on the screen because it needs a special license and hardware module from nVidia the screen manufacturer has to build into it - FreeSync doesn't need that.
On a technical end G-Sync is the superior implementation as it comes with a decent hardware scaler and frame doubling at low fps but AMD promised better driver support (whatever that means coming from them).

My recommendation when you buy anything now: If you get a high-Hz screen get one with G- or FreeSync. If you just buy mid-range cards and cheap monitors do skip it to save money.

Left over W7-PRO OEM key from some G2A sister site which I then upgraded to W10 PRO for free. Actually I think it was more like 9 or 10 € for it.

It was a pretty sweet choice going that route, W10 is so much better than W8.1 and the start menu makes it well worth getting.
>>
>>318435729
You know how a monitor usually synchronizes 60 times a second on set intervals? G-Sync/Freesync makes it sync the instant it receives an image, eliminating screen tearing
>>
>>318427047
No, you fucked up because you didn't spend like 2 grand, so people will point out one part you bought is somehow negative and there for your entire build sucks.

Next time avoid the shitflinging and memes and just buy a console. Also, enjoy the 15+ hour building of that, and the tons and tons of problems that can happen in building a new PC. Hope you got warranties on everything in case you fuck up, but that would easily raise the cost of your build by another 3-400

Ignore everyone about the 970
Is isn't a bad card at all but I will tell you this

You overspent on the CPU , you should have gotten a i5 and used the extra money for a 980 ot 980ti if possible.
Mobo is a bit of a overkill but honestly everyone is going to upgrade someday and yours is great for it.

OTHER THAN THAT
the build looks fine just DO NOT remove the standoffs

get a phanteks enthoo pro if you haven't bought a case yet and if you have still give it a look

the most builder friendly , newcomer friendly , overall best price for any case in its range.

pic related , this build is practically the same build I made a year ago with a few minor changes , I'm going to upgrade the GPU when nvidia releases their HBM gpus .

Wish you the best of luck op
