You have been informed by the higher ups that 'Souls' is officially dead, this includes bloodborne and that they're axing the franchise in fear that it's continued success will run the company into a creative corner. They've done the same with their other long running successful franchise Armored Core. That said they don't want to lose the respective fanbases. The goal is to prove the creativity of fromsoftware and their ability to provide their fans with new and interesting experiences.
The executives have tasked you with designing an original IP that will bridge the two communities and solidify the fromsoft fanbase. They're not necessarily looking for a wider audience, their focus is to appeal to loyal hardcore fromsoft fans.
They're adamant that it must be original they want full creative control and to prove they are still capable of coming up with new ideas. So no reviving other dead franchises or licensing other properties. You have been given full creative freedom and a AAA budget and 5 years to develop the game. The only mandates are that both Armored Core fans and Souls fans must be interested in your new game, and that the game is a new and original IP, everything else is on the table.
What do you do?
update my resume

Make an Armored Core game
add some cheap reference to souls and call it a day.
>ACfags want Fromsoft to return to their preferred genre once again
I would have thought after their last few AC games you would be tired of eating literal shit.
>>318379643
Make Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance with a fresh coat of paint, RPG-tier character customisation and levelling, faster than Bloodborne combat and viable ranged options.
>>318380036
I enjoyed Verdict Day more than ever souls game past des and das.
>>318380197
Also a Dark Souls 2 sized game world.
Story doesn't necessarily have to be as obscure as in Souls, but perhaps the feeling of isolation could be achieved by making it post-apoc?
That's actually an interesting idea, but the two seres are so different it's hard to bridge them together in an actually good way.
I guess you could play as some sort of cyborg or "enchanced" human that can sneak into some sort of military bases and explore them in a more stealth-based way, getting detected would result in you having to find heavily armored guards in a more Soul-like fashion, trying to bait them into attacks that would leave their weak point visible(not always the back), these trips to bases could result in you finding blueprints and tech which you later use to build a mecha, but probably a somewhat smaller one than the ones in the AC series, and then you go on actual missions in your mecha and the combat is closer to that of AC, sadly I don't have experience with that series so I don't know if there would be a way to combine souls and ac combat somehow
Some story around the entire thing and there's the game
So my initial reaction is you do something like Xenogears where you have two games the human-sized game and the robot-sized game and you switch between them as the story dictates. If you need to fight giant monsters you use the robot, if you need to start exploring caves and castles you go back to the human. It's got RPG elements for the human-sized game and AC-like parts and customization for the robot.
Souls fans want a Berserk-like Dark Fantasy
AC fans want Futuristic robots
So first thing I think of is like a Moebius style fantasy world that blends the two on the surface it looks kinda dark fantasy but underneath is a mysterious futuristic mechanical sci-fi bend.
Bring back this babe and her edgy partner Rikimaru, however the Tenchu games have been to simplistic and have aged poorly. Would be nice if they could revisit this forgotten franchise.

I like this
>>318379643
Kings Field remake
>>318380958
From just published the tenchu games, wasnt there some spiritual successor coming for ps4 or something?
You pilot a mech that can shoot energy shit and use swords. Occasionally you fight giant monsters.
It'll be called Armored Core.
technu: 2477

From published and developed tenchu, I think you are referring to the indie title known as "Twin Souls". Tenchu games have always been bad mechanics wise but the setting is always nice to visit.
>>318380958
>Would be nice if they could revisit this forgotten franchise.
Tenchu is hardly forgotten.
If you want forgotten try stuff like

No it isn't and they will come back to it once they stop butt fucking Armored Core and other ips like they were doing before hitting the sweet spot with Demon Souls.

>>318380308
>le make this babys first hack an slesh but wit hle souls combat and story!!111
go kill yourselves fucking literal children
>>318381517
From published it, it was developed by Acquire. The only one From developed was Tenchu Z.
I don't think that is the game I was referring to.
Hmmmmm... juste make a Blame!/biomega game, mix customisation of AC with the rpg element of DaS and voila !
>>318381529
Frame Gride could be cool as hell if it were made today.
>>318379643
They could just make a game with Armored Core gameplay except you explore hostile planets and collect equipment from the environment and they drop from enemies.
Basically Demon's Souls but with flying mechs. The hub world is a "space station" or something of the sort that warps you to different planets like the archstones.
There are bosses in each area, to fight them you activate something that transports you to their arena in an alternate reality/time/dimension or whatever someone else can write better than me.
Invasions and coop work like Souls games.
Boom roasted. Pic related.
good night sweet prince.

Judging from game play alone, you can tell dark souls took inspiration from those titles. Are the newer tenchu game only in moon?
>>318381704
Would you kindly find the game you were referring to?

MGR done right would be fine. Don't be a faggot.
>>318380958
pc releases when

already missed its chance
what it gave up is now the base for my own game
>>318382215
I think it was Shinobido?
>>318379643
Break Blade RPG.
>>318379643
Cyberpunk Game ala Souls
Fantasy Mecha seems like a pretty good fit but I think it might be too "anime" for Souls fans. AC fans would be used to that kinda of thing, but souls games tends to get a wider audience who might be turned off by it since many of them think souls is already too 'anime' as it is.
I guess you could grimdark it up but I wonder if just have giant robots at all would be too much for them.
>>318381867
Underrated post of the century
Make a Persona out of armored core or dark souls except not shit.
>>318380471
There was an illustration concept for a Souls-style futuristic game someone posted a while ago. It wouldn't really be a big change, and I'm still hungry for new ideas, but an aesthetic shift at this point would be welcome.
They already have a futuristic dungeon crawler look up nebula: echo night.
>>318380927
An Arzach-style or Druuna-style world could be very well done by them, I think. They're futuristic, but with an ancient feel to them and full of nightmarish shit roaming around.
And both of those would make for a great source of inspiration as far as enemy design goes.
>>318382383
Shinobido is fucking dead after that shambles on the Vita.
>>318386262
>One of the requirements is to be original
>Let's just steal ideas from a bunch of other games!

The fuck you talking about, son?
>>318379643
Stuff.
>>318379643
you make dark core
I have literally no problem with this.
Demon's Souls was fun because it was fresh. No other entry hit that note. You play one, you've effectively played them all.
