Of course I would

While we're on this topic, what is the Action Park of video games?
>>
>>318360119
Only if it was an RCT game where you were rewarded for killing/injuring park guests.

That pseudo-3D looks awfully ambitious but I'd say they pulled it off very well and with so few colors to work with. I imagine it doesn't look nearly as good on the original Game Boy though.

Why does that matter? you're just going forward

>Possibility of other people coming down the tube
If you didn't come out the other side, they're not gonna send someone else down

It's water, you swim through it
You don't need to grip anything

kek you don't know much about Action Park

that said the bigger danger is breaking your fucking spine on the loop

I can engineer half my park to explode in RCT.
But those fuckers still line up for go karts.

theres drainage in the tube dummy, that volume of water would prevent anybody from going round the loop

I don't think the loop is that big, plus there's a door at the bottom of the loop incase someone does get stuck.
>>
>>318363163
There is, but there's also no light down there.
>>
>>318362501
I think the danger was an attraction, it added something to the place.

Also there was the feeling that nobody seemed to give a god damn what people did there. Seeing 16 year olds walking around with a beer can in one hand and a joint in the other was pretty common, in fact they were usually the ones operating the rides.

You ride in a little car so it's really just a roller coaster with water splashing around
>>
>>318364151
>You ride in a little car so it's really just a roller coaster
Roller coasters are by definition made of tracks, not slides, except for bobsled coasters.
>>
In defense of Action Park, it was basically the first major water park in North America. A lot of the rides were designed badly, but that had a lot do with the fact that they were the first park ever to use these types of rides.

Like almost every first generation water ride was opened at Action Park, and people went in there loving the idea of conquering some new, unknown attraction
>>
I've thought for years about where I had a conversation about dangerous amusement parks that killed people. I never would have thought it was with /v/. Post some old copypastas, and accounts of working at these places.
>>
>>318362127
This is why they put two lifeguards on either side of the slide these days
>>
>>318363151
It never actually closed they just renamed it to Mountain Creek after the 6th death in 87 then brought back the old name last year
>>
>>318364816
Everything is on the wikipedia page.
Make sure to ctrl+f "death awaits".

new ride at the reopened Action Park

would you go on it?
>>
>>318365456
I dont think they were able to get permits for it for public use before the season ended. Hopefully they're keeping it for next summer.
>>
>>318365456
It literally looks like you're riding in a dirty toilet bowl
Also is that actually an amusement park? It just looks like something set up in the middle of a field, there are no paths or signs or fences or anything
>>
>>318365816
Thats just the soap they put on the slide so you go faster. Also it's from an unopened, new part of the park. None of it is open for public, and wont be for a while.
>>
>>318365816
It's a temporary ride they put on the ski slope next to the park. Also the brown stuff is an additional lubricant so you go even faster
>>
>>318365816
It's not actually action park. It's just an Action Park employee riding it.
>>
>>318365816
I used to go in the Mountain Creek days a few times every year.

It's a ski resort in the wintertime, and a water park in the summer. They're just using some of that ski slope real estate for this one it seems.
>>
>>318362501
In tourism, deaths will actually briefly increase the amount of public interest at a given venture. Somebody flips upside down and dies riding the Shotover Jet rides? They'll enjoy a nice little boost in popularity.

Of course if too many people die then that's no good.

Fun fact, nobody has officially died in the AJ Hackett bungy jumps, their ropes are really fucking potent
>>
>>318364471
Just like the venomous snakes, the oil filled boat pool, and the skate park filled with dirt and forgotten about forever.
>>
>>318366234
I'm pretty sure it was just regular snakes. We don't really get venomous ones in New Jersey.
>>
>>318365816
They haven't added the speedbumps and venomous snakes yet, then it'll be Action Park material.

You'd think they'd pick a nicer looking color, fuck
If it has to be brown they should question whether or not looking like you're skidding down shitstains on a dirty toilet is really worth going a little faster
>>
>>318363971

>>
>>318366353

>The sleds were a large factor in the injuries. A stick that was supposed to control speed led, in practice, to just two options on the infrequently maintained vehicles: extremely slow, and a speed described by one former employee as "death awaits".
>>
>>318362501
Most of the rides in Action Park were designed with the idea that "you are in control". Go to Disney Land or Universal Studios, any car ride or whatever is gonna have a million safety harnesses and also the car itself is on a fixed track set at a fixed speed. At Action Park, not so much. It was up to you to pick the speed you wanted, and it was also up to you to make sure you actually like, stayed on the track.

Of course most rides only really had two speeds; ultra slow and no brakes at all and if you didn't go as fast as possible, the guy behind you almost certainly did so you would probably get kicked in the back at high speeds but still. The idea of being in control was a huge draw for a lot of people.

Well thanks to this thread I was reminded of going to Geauga Lake with my dad when I was like 8, back when it was the biggest theme park in the world and known as 6 Flags: Worlds of Adventure.

Thanks for the good memories, /v/.
