So, I'm about to buy a gayman keyboard and this Black Widow 2014 attracts me, it's 150$ and it's my first gayman keyboard, feels a bit pricey.
Are there 100$ keyboards that are worth it?
Which keyboard would you suggest me?

I got a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 for $50 a few years ago and it's still like brand new. But I think they might have discontinued it. I'm sure there's a new version out. It's not mechanical, but all the keys work well, it click clacks like a motherfucker and is sturdy.

Microsoft makes solid keyboards and mice.
>>
gaymen keyboards are a rip off. although i just ordered a CM Storm QuickFire...dont spend over 70 OP
>>
Get a damn mechanical keyboard you fuck
>>

Why?

These are probably the same idiots that laugh at people with gaming laptops.

Pro-tip: not Razer. They've become ultra-shitty recently. Try CM Storm QuickFire Ultimate. It's around 100$ on Amazon.
>>
>>318348396
Razer is trash. Get Literally anything else.
>>
>>318348396
My brother bought that exact keyboard when he made his first computer (he wanted everything to glow green for who the fuck knows reasons), he ultimately decided to get a better keyboard for (I shit you not) a mini screen that tells him the time so he just gave me he old Razer one (typing on it right now). Am I supposed to be angry with this keyboard? I'm literally having no problems with it and I'm quite happy. Why is it meme tier?
>>

Build quality. Feedback. That delicious clickity-clack as you slam down on the keys. Before the mid 90's, everyone used mechanical keyboards. They switched to shit rubber domes to save costs and most people don't even realize they are using an inferior product.

>>
>>318350730
build quality in razer products is typically lower than other comparable products because the marketing targets normies that want to go pro. They wont be none the wiser so Razer makes shitty/overpriced products and they lap it up without doing any research
>>
>>318351176
What do you mean by build quality? I've had this keyboard for a little over a year and it shows no signs of wear. I mean I'm not disagreeing with you, but I wasn't going to turn down a free $130 dollar keyboard either and it works perfectly fine.

There are rubber dome keyboards that click clack and are really solid and don't cost nearly as much as a new mechanical keyboard.

No they're not exactly the same, but they're still great for video games and anything else you're using it for. Every young fuckboi that bought a mechanical keyboard can't shut up about how inferior everyone else's keyboard is.

I remember those Model M IBM keyboards, I had a few of them around the house over the years, I know. Mechanical keyboards are sweet, but please stop repeating what everyone else is saying about rubber dome keyboards.
>>
>>318351398

they use cheaper switches (kailh vs cherry switches)
>>
>>318351468
This.
I've been using rubber dome for 10 years and its great. Just literally bought a G710 because it was cheap and to see what the fuss is about.
I did also buy a 12 button mouse for World of Shitcraft
>>
>>318348396
Just buy a 360 controller for 20 bucks,
FPS and RTS are ass now anyway
>>
>>318351468
I have no idea what people are saying about rubber dome keyboards. I used one for 15years. I still used one at work like a fucking pleb. I'm just talking from personal experience. Squish vs Clack. Feedback vs Smushy
>>
>>318351398
compared to other products that are also 130 $, it will be made with lower quality parts or parts that are designed to not last as long.
>>
>>318351468
Also, people are recommended all these 1337 elite gaymer keyboards in this thread between $50-$100. Why not just drop $65 and get a nice mechanical that will last for life?

If everyone here was talking about how a $30 Microsoft keyboard was the best, you would have a point, but so far this thread is full of expensive gaymer shit.

Honestly, fuck spending so much money on peripherals, I'd recommend just getting the $30 CM Devastator keyboard/mouse set. It has raised keys that feel quasi-mechanical, backlighting, volume controls, DPI settings, basically everything that more expensive sets have. But anything Coolermaster is golden, one of the few companies that don't overprice their peripherals.

Razer keyboards are pretty universally regarded as garbage.
I had a black widow and after not even a year some of the switches started double registering and then a firmware update bricked it.

>>

CM Storm Trigger Z has macros and backlight.
>>
>>318353917
Also Corsair K95/K95 RGB. But it's huge and this many macro keys always seem like overkill to me. And it's kinda expensive.
>>
>>318348396

Get it. I got my Chroma recently for a little more than that. It's fucking tits. Keys and everything are really nice as light to press, but have a nice click and feel to them. I found myself typing so fast when I got it that I was making mistakes. Used to it now.

For gayming its the best. I like how I can fully customize the keyboard lights to whatever I want and it will automatically change the layout to whatever program or game I set it to.

I don't think i could ever go back to a lesser keyboard without custom light features like this.

Read all the reviews. Most or all said the Chroma was better and that the customization of the buttons/colors was way better and waaaaay easier to do with the Chroma.

I liked the way it worked and it was a lot to drop on a keyboard, but I don't regret it. I use my computer a lot and recently started to game and would dread going back to something without custom lights like this.

see http://www.anandtech.com/show/7911/razer-blackwidow-ultimate-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-review/3

For what its worth... I guess 89.99 at amazon is okay for a razor. i can't complain too much. I don't like the aesthetics. But 90 mechanical, plus you go to the store and get a price match and its not bad. I played around with one in walmart and it felt fine (their version of blues). But I was mainly interested in typing and giving this to someone who would only type on it. It was Christmas so I did it.

>>318352750
yuck. I got one of those when I ordered my computer. After using mechanical switches you will not want to go back. Gave it to my roommate who was using his laptop to type.

Mechanical keyboards aren't a meme when it comes to typing. Once you find the right switch for you you will fall in love.
>>
My keyboard is so hipster barely anyone has it. I like both backlight colors and the fact they are not to bright, just bright enough to see in night.

It also has rubbery/gum shit you can attach to it but I don't use it since it forces me to rest hands on keyboard, while I usually rest my forearms on desk and keep hands floating above the keys.
>>
>>318360659
Looks cool. What swtiches? I like symetrical keyboards though. Just my thing. can you detach the weird bump out/wrist wrest?

You live in Europe? Is that why you have ISO?

I actually like the 60% layout the most.
>>
>>318351468

I agree with this as a mech user, not all rubber domes are equal. My friend had some logitech gay man keyboard that actually felt quite nice.

However, as for OP, if you're going to spend $100 go fucking mechanical and stop being a retard.
>>
>>318361214
Yeah, I live in Poland. Keyboard is called Canyon Hazard CNS-SKB7.

>What switches?
It's not mechanical. It uses weird system invented by the company, It's their author system, basically rubber dome that tries to give you mechanical feel. It doesn't work very good but it's still better than other rubbers. But you still get metal backplate, win lock, baclight and dpi control for 40 bucks.
>>
>>318362358
Interesting. Well, as long as you like it.

Briefly-- when I moved from rubber domes to mechanical keyboard (MX brown) I wasn't "blown away" by the move. It definitely felt different and was nicer. But it didn't feel immediately compelling. I couldn't say "oh you must move to mechanical keyboards." But what happened was that I realized that typing on rubber domes felt disgusting and I didn't want to go back to them.

I like clears and greens more than browns. And I like buckling springs most of all. Unicomp Ultra Classic isn't for gaming but if you're gonna type, that's where its at. But its so loud.

I recently just bought the chroma version of this keyboard. So far I really like it. The color profiles are really cool. The keyboard is very, very responsive. And also very accurately responsive. The only bad thing I've experienced with this keyboard is sometimes when I boot my PC the keyboard doesn't work unless I unplug it and plug it back in. One other thing that's nice about it though is you can plug a usb device into it as well as a headset if you're into that sort of thing.
>>318350306
I agree that razer was shitty, but honestly I really think they're starting to come around. I was like you I even bought the same keyboard you mentioned. Which was nice for a while kind of but I really don't like it. I play a lot of music games with my keyboard, and while having that keyboard with red switches was good and responsive, it wasn't very accurate. Plus the whole reason I bought my blackwidow chroma was because my quickfire started double tapping keys. I also went through a couple of mice. I had a logitech g something that went to shit, after that I bought a steelseries which I hated, so much that I returned it. I saw the razer deathadder 2013 and thought ehh a razer product. But said fuck it and spent 5 extra dollars on it and I love it. It's seriously the best mouse i've ever owned and i'll buy another one if and when it stops working.

Honestly OP to each his own. If you like it and you see that most of the reviews are good, go for it. Is it overpriced? Maybe a little. But honestly with anything you get what you pay for. I paid 70 for my quickfire and it starting going to shit 7 months later. I haven't owned my blackwidow long enough to tell but i like it a hell of a lot more than my quickfire.
>>
Whats a good full featured mechanical keyboard with lighted switches?

>>
>>318364571
Oh a good mouse matters. Well at least if you play shooters it does. I always recommend to use whatever feels comfortable. This is about the only time I recommend going to a best buy to look at mice to at least get a feel for something before you buy it. I own a razer deathadder 2013. I paid 70 bucks for it, but it's seriously the best mouse I've ever owned. It's a pretty basic 5 button mouse, but it's very smooth and responsive. Also feels really nice in my hand. Other mice after hours of gaming my hand would start to cramp and that doesn't happen for me with this mouse.
>>
>>318364532
I'm going to have to agree with the razor hate and suggest OP not get a Blackwidow 2014. I just spilled stuff all over my last keyboard about 2 days ago and had to get another one. I'm using that exact one, and there are so many problems I'm having with it. Shift keys don't work, driver software is broken (the updated app won't open), Personally I hate how loud the clacking sound is of it and there's a few keys that repeat strokes that I have to go back and delete. It sucks when playing a game and having that happen.

Years ago, I had a Razer Barracuda headset and sound card. I really liked it. Now, it seems to be gimmicks all over.

I mean, fitness bands for gamers? 4 hour battery lifetime 'gaming' tablet? nah
>>
>>318364661

Never again, those things always fucking break and then you have to buy both a new mic and headphones or be forced into another headset, it's an endless cycle.

I have pic related, it's chinkshit but not bad so far. satisfying to type on

white backlights are black switches (tighter throw, more resistance) and the red backlights are red switches (smoother throw, more sensitive)

keyboards are pretty much the same for gaming

mechanical and other factors are just bells and whistles. You won't play better.

Unless you have some serious key rollover problems or something

>>318366175
you notice inferior keyboards; but you can get a regular one for $30 easy
also my keyboard game > your keyboard game

Is there any benefit using mixed switches?
>>
>>318366510
the difference is tactile; response time is the same

What type of switches do you prefer, anons?
MX Brown at home for gayming and MX Blue for work here.

Well right sure. But a lot of times its just easier to buy a little more expensive of a keyboard then it is to try and pick and choose the cheap ones to see what works best. Anti-ghosting is super important and not all keyboards are actually very accurate. Even some cheap end mechanical keyboards i've used arent very accurate. But it's stupid because at the same time i'll use an old dell quietkey keyboard that only has a ps/2 connector and it works perfect, with the exception of anti-ghosting.

Never even knew that was a thing, but no probably not. The switches are all about preference man. They really don't make a difference.
>>
>>318365431

wrist rests are godtier

I never knew what I was missing until I got a mechanical keyboard that had them

>>318365925

mechanical keyboards aren't that much more expensive than good regular ones if you're not buying one with riced out shit
>>
>>318367818
I have nothing against mechanical keyboards, theres no reason to get a gaming mechanical keyboard if you can touchtype though.
>>
>>318368048

of course, I'm not paying $130+ for a "gaming" mechanical keyboard when I could get a fully functional mechanical one with cherry switches for $70 (and that's with no sales)

I can, but when I reposition my hands I need a glance to hover hands over proper keys, I can live without it, but it's helpful.

If you genuinely need something for gaming, get one of these and pair it with an MMO gaming mouse. You'll have all the buttons you need and they're very comfortably located.

If you want a mechanical keyboard for various other keyboarding, just grab a nice mechanical with official cherry keys like the Ducky Shine. But for gaming keypads will do you best.

Is this ugly thing any good if I can get it for a decent price?

I figure if I'm going to get a mouse with extra buttons, might as well get a bunch

Yes, it's good. Quite comfy actually, despite aggressive gaymer look.

Alrighty then.

I was thinking about gettin that and maybe the mech. keyboard in >>318365253 if I can find em for a decent amount

Figured it time to start upgrading my stuff. I'm still running off a pretty beastly laptop that is now approaching 5 yrs. old (about 4 & 1/2 now), and as I can't afford to buy/build a desktop, getting some nice accessories would be the next best thing.

I dunno. I've been utterly unimpressed with the games this year and have nothing to buy or "ask for" for the Christmas season.

Please, anyone feel free to talk me out of it if I'm being silly.

The Blackwidow is too expensive for the quality you'll be getting. If you have the money; Corsair makes better keyboards with better switches.
>>
>>318370480

It looks really clunky and heavy, but it's comfy and a good mouse. I got mine a few months ago for about 70€, the same price as a Deathadder 2013.

Dont even know what the difference is.
