I got the game with a friend recently and we've had a lot of fun with it. I just wanna know what happens when you get all of the Faux Hero's tokens.
I'd love for him to be a playable character too. Poor guy deserves his chance in the spot light.
Still couldn't hurt to ask on a bunch of forums if that's what you'd prefer though, could be a good way to meet some new faces.

Pretty sure the Faux Hero is just an NPC to help explain Friend Tokens, and explain what they are/do.
Much like talking to the Merchant in the Cheer Outfit, or the Daily Treasure Vendor in Dapper Spinner, it will probably just unlock some unique dialogue between you 2.

I find the Vendor 'feels lucky' and buys your stuff for x2 the price more often when you talk to him in the Cheer Outfit, since he mentions how cheery and happy you make him.
As for the Daily Vendor, it unlocks a little 'cutscene' where he mistakes you for the almighty Legendary Dapper Spinner Knight, but then notices your ears.

Pretty sure he's just a dude in a clown suit, tripping fucking nuts on acid, hence his name.
For how he looks, you'd guess he'd be a more important character, but not really.
All SpotPass does is allow you to fight other Shadow Links in the home world. A cute gimmick by Nintendo, but the only way it works is if you and another person walk by eachother in real life with your DS in sleep mode, and if you have Spotpass.
So it's literally like being struck by lightening, or winning the lottery unless you and a friend do it for the lulz
