>find a key item
>game asks you if you would like to take it
>Yes/No prompt

I've never understood this. Why would anyone say no to picking up an important item? What's the point? Why wouldn't you say Yes everytime? I don't think I've ever seen a situation in a game where saying no to picking up an item is actually a good thing unless your inventory in the game was limited but if your inventory was full, you wouldn't have been given the Yes/No prompt in the first place.

Anything else like this in vidya?
>>
>"Did you get all that?" is asked for exposition dumps
>not for tutorials
Because I really need to know how the triforce was made, but how to use my items isn't as important.

Sometimes picking up the important item triggers a cutscene and may lock you out of backtracking.

It's more of a "you ready for what's next, f@m?" prompt.
>>
>>318340659
I'd rather have my inventory sorted by "item type"
>>
>NPC asks you to do something
>keeps asking again until you say yes
What's the point?

it always gives me anxiety cause i feel like maybe there's some downside to taking it

although the only example i can think of that is in chrono trigger, with the chests that you have to check and then open in the future.
>>
>>318340697
There's no reason to still tack the prompt onto minor items then.

Why wouldn't I want to pick up the health drink every single time?

This is good too, but I tend to memorize item names, so I always like to have them alphabetized for that reason. Especially if items happen to have their own separate type-based bags anyway, like in Pokemon.

in shin megami tensi 4 there was this trick where a monster played dead so you could grab a item and he would land a sneak attack on you

I mean it's not super infuriating or anything, but fuck, why tease me with the potential of an alternate story path or moral choice or even just flavor dialogue and then pull the "HAHA WHAT A JOKER" or "NAH YOU WOULDN'T DO THAT" card?
>>
>>318341232
But dragon's dogma is somewhat justified

every save file has 1 pawn, the server cannot handle a theoretical infinite number of pawns.

if they can limit 1 per copy, it's much more manageable.

saying no to it can actually be tactical if you'll get the coin star anyway and the guy behind you is going to even up with stars with you, but in the end have less coins while you pull ahead by winning the coin star bonus
