the other important aspect is that there's tons of characters to draw on, something Gundam and LoZ have, but Metroid really doesn't.
Also, Gundam's setting is usually galactic warfare, so it has that kind of "lead an army and take control of the enemy's base" feel going on already.
But Metroid, again, is just really not about large-scale campaigns.
