That's exactly what makes him the protagonist. A protagonist is the person you experience the story through, and the antagonist is the person opposing them. Someone can be both a protagonist and a villain, which is what Marche is.

Marche was an adult in a game full of children. He did nothing wrong.
You can't hide from your problems forever. You need to face them head on deal with reality. His methods were pretty harsh, though. He could have been a little nicer about the whole thing.
