It also has double the range, and backstep/running R1s always catch people off guard because of that range.
The Greataxe will always have a special place in my heart.
It was the first time in any video game I'd ever played where I could feel the weight behind every swing. Those animations still amaze me to this day, and they perfectly match the design of the weapon, not to mention how good the sound of it hitting the ground is.
It's so satisfying to use. No other weapon has ever been able to recreate that feeling for me.

Range doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is how much damage per BS you can pull. Not to mention you can poise a Washing Pole with only 36 if memory serves.
Besides, not counting backstabs, an Uchi poke is a few frames faster, just enough to dodge your attack. It also requires more investment to be as strong as an Uchi.
The Washing Pole is all around a terrible weapon.

Large and Great Clubs. I remember blunt damage being the way to go in a melee build in the Souls games. I usually run a STR build with pyromancy when I need some range in PvE. Too slow to be viable in PvP, but I suck at that anyways, so....
