Right, so we find the ultimate balance. And who knows, maybe playing vidya while standing can somewhat improve.

Once everyone starts dying from sitting, evolution will kick in and 50 generations later we will have new species of human adapted to spending his entire lifetime in sitting position

Modern medicine keeps people that should have died even decades ago alive in barely functioning conditions.
>>
>>318262405

1) Putting all your pressure on your feet, which have a far smaller amount of surface area to work with than your rear is fuck them up faster.

2) We need more sleep on average, standing causes some stress from your body constantly balancing itself with small muscle tugs here and there. Gravity also works against your cardiovascular.

3) In cases of cold days, it's easier to huddle up and stay warm with both your limbs tucked in and a chair insulating your back, there's nothing standing here.

A lot of people at my work have started using standing desks, even getting those motorized ones that can go up and down in.

One guy who has been using one for 3 months recently had to go to the hospital because he fucked up his entire right foot and leg from standing, and now has to sit for half a year.

you'll stand there playing vidya and then that's all you be able to do because you've just used a retarded amount of energy and muscle exertion keeping your posture straight that entire time (assuming you even have proper posture while you do this).

Gaming while standing is remarkably uncomfortable.
I have recently used the standing desk method for about a month and found it is much harder to game because you are always focusing on how the body feels.

This is perfectly suited for productivity as it keeps you alert but any task that involves long periods of extreme focus will suffer.
>>
>>318267237
>THERE IS NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPENDING 10 HOURS SITTING OR 10 HOURS STANDING
Yes there is, a very significant one as well.
The body gets tired from standing, tired as balls.
Yet despite this there is no health benefits of standing, so you waste energy on nothing.

i don't sit, i lay down in bed with giant TV i use as monitor at the end of my bed. propped myself up with beanbag, i can adjust my posture at will.

i put the whole beanbag inside of quilt covers so i can keep it hygienic, only need to wash the quilt cover.

it's probably healthier than sitting because of the lack of blood clotting pressure you get with sitting.
>>
>>318269127

Me too. Sometimes my back is at my chair. Other times squatting on my chair. I don't sit in the same position for more than 15-30 minutes, but I often sit in front of the computer for more than 8 hours in a row.
>>
This shit has become so fucking endemic to our society that it's revolting. You get assholes so eager to turn a buck that they invent problems where none existed. "Work at a computer all day? Ooh noo, statistics say your legs are gonna explode, here buy this fucking $22k standing desk. It's a desk specifically made so you can't sit at it." How fucking stupid is that. It's like inventing an elevator that ONLY goes up. Absolutely fucking worthless to the point of ridicule.

And then there's the people who, due to low intelligence, a lack of common sense or just out of fear end up buying into this shit. Or even worse, run a business and ends up forcing it on employees "for their own sake". The road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions, but people like OP has never had any of those. He's either bought into this particular wave of stupidity and wants others to suffer as well, or he has a financial interest in luring gullible anons into investing in this dumb shit. Either way it shouldn't be allowed on /v/ because it's blatant marketing for something not vidya related.

>Long term complications of standing too long
>Varicose veins
>When standing, gravity pulls the blood downwards to the lower part of the body. Body mechanisms, such as vasoconstriction and valves of the veins, assist in forcing blood upwards.[5] As blood is pumped though the body, the valves within the veins prevent the blood from flowing backwards. After extensive, prolonged standing, these valves can become weaken and eventually fail. When this happens, blood is no longer being prevented from flowing backward. Gravity with pull the blood back into an individuals legs, ankles and feet. This forces the veins to expand or "balloon" to accommodate this extra blood.
>The valves of the veins work best in concert with accompanying muscle contractions that force the blood to continue moving up the leg. Standing with some muscles constantly strained weakens these muscle and therefore the strength of the contractions. Varicose veins have also been associated with Chronic heart and circulatory disorders and hypertension as well as complications related to pregnancy.
>Prolonged standing increases the risk for hospitalization from varicose veins.[6] Among the working age population one out of five hospitalizations from varicose veins are as a result of prolonged standing. Prolonged standing leads to impeded blood flow and stasis in the veins in the lower limbs, which can cause varicose veins.
Enjoy your veins failing standing fags.

>>
>>318273553
Read a few papers on the subject, prolonged sitting causes quite a few long-term back issues. On the contrary, standing not only relieves this issues, but decreases the chance of knee and ankle issues. It's neither about staying in shape, nor about replacing exercise. It's simply a healthier posture.

Similarly you should spend about 30 minutes a day squatting rather than sitting.
