The Witcher 3
It had its flaws but I also didn't have ridiculous expectations going in. It was a marked improvement over the second game in virtually every area except arguably the environment visuals, and a return to the atmosphere of the first game, so I was very happy with it. The only significant complaint I had was the fact that the open world didn't really add much to the game, and a lot of the points of interest were just needless filler.

I buy all AAA games I am hyped about on release but don't play them for 3 - 6months. Mostly busy with work but also a habbit a formed since watchdogs.
All the while I randomly visit B and hear how it "sucks". Then I eventually play it and it's amazing.

I've legitimately never been significantly disappointed with a game, as far as I can remember. Not that I don't have major complaints about some, but I've never bought a game and just been straight up completely disappointed.
I get why people take issues with stuff but for the most part I feel like realistic expectations and keeping myself at least mildly informed helps a ton.
This might be in part due to low standards, I can enjoy anything, but I dunno.

The first half of SMD's story is a set up and tutorial so not much happens. It goes full Rescue Team/ Explorers level of fucking amazing in the second half of the story, but you have to force yourself through the first half.
