That's because they actually are first party controllers. Those are official controllers made by Nintendo. Some people say they don't feel like the original Gamecube controllers but even me, who's one of those autists who play Smash Bros competitively, can't really tell the difference.

I got a white one off of Amazon and I recently used it in a Melee tournament, works really well and feels like an old OEM GC controller. I don't actually have any complaints. I have 2 white ones and a black one.
I don't know about >>318224340 Because I've never used them, But the Hori ones that look like an OEM GC controller (The Mario and Luigi themed ones) that plug into wiimotes don't feel OEM, but are still nice. I wouldn't play smash with the Hori styled GC wiimote controllers, but they're nice on the WiiU for shit like Xenoblade or anything that uses Classic controllers.

In a way it's one of the comfiest controllers but the fucking ridges on the sticks and though the button configuration actually makes sense with most games it kinda forces games to make A the main buttons though they may have multiple buttons of the same priority

Yeah, the clicking is a little weird compared to the original, so if you need to differentiate a hard press from a soft press, you might have issues. Otherwise it's fine, I've been using it for smash4because it has a longer wire.

The controller works fine, but feels cheap and wears off very quickly.
I had a Mario red one, after a month and a half, the sticks peeled off and the A button stuck.

The first one is a legitimate gamecube controller manufactured by Nintendo, just with a smash logon on it instead of "Nintendo Gamecube". The second is a wiimote accesory that you plug into the wiimote as you would the nunchuck, third party and about 20% bigger than the normal gamecube controller. If you ever bought a third party gamecube controller thats what it feels like

the sticks are kinda stiff compared to my old wavebird, not even in terms of looseness just in terms of force required to depress fully in one direction
the plastics also a different texture and the stick tops feel less "rubbery" but that may just be because they need to be broken in, but those two points combined makes your thumb slip off the sticks way more often than it should
dpad is gummier than old controllers too which is weird, although not many games rely on it so it probably doesnt matter

There's a small piece that isn't included in both triggers that stops this. It's in the old controllers, but not the new ones.

The HORI controllers that look like GCN pads but are actually Classic Controllers are legit. Get one of those if you want to use them for other Wii U games or grab the GCN one for GCN games and Smash.

they actually suck really bad. depends on which game your playing. if melee than they re not all that great for shield dropping. if smash 4 than any controller will do really
