Maybe because it was done by one of the most famous Manga authors in history. And the entire point of Chrono Trigger as a game was to make a game in the world of Akira Toriyama.

Possibly. But I think Suikoden would be the best choice. Chrono Trigger has a much bigger chance of being ruined in anime form. While Suikoden is an unfinished serialized work that could be improved in anime form.

The horrible Dragon Ball GT treatment those cutscenes got and the horrid extra content on the DS game are really the only bad things in all of Chrono Trigger. Almost to the point of me saying the SNES version is the definitive version.

The dungeon was interesting but they didn't do enough with it. Monster raiser thing was uninteresting. Ending was neat.
They should have scratched those first two and added in a new party member, pic related would be best choice of course.

Why would I try and prove you wrong when its a fact? His monster designs are what makes series like Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest stand out compared to other RPGs.
I also enjoyed the original Dragon Ball more than DBZ because I enjoyed his more variety in monsters and animals. Not just humans and humanoid looking aliens.

The bigger problem was running up and down that mountain a dozen times. As well as going to random spots to find hidden items.

Yeah I agree. The Idea of doing something, then time traveling and seeing how that affected the place, and so and and so on. Is a good idea. The traveling, no new bad guys, no new good items (that I remember), and uninteresting story for it ruined it all of course. Solid idea, but done so poorly.

There was a borken weapon for Marle? I thought only Crono and Magus got broken weapon. Crono has that sword with a 90% of chance of doing a critical hit and Magus a scythe that can deal x4 the damage, I'm not sure if Frog had one too.

In the base game, everyone gets a strong weapon. But Marle's was the weakest. The Rainbow was Chrono's broken weapon that has a 90% counter attack.
In the DS version, Marle gets a new bow that does even more damage than the Rainbow. But its only in the DS version.

Its true. Sakaguchi and Yuji Horii both went to a western gaming convention. On the plane ride back, he talked to Yuji Horii about his desire to make a game with Akira Toriyama. Yuji Horii set up a meeting and the eventual game ended up being Chrono Trigger.
And its not like its the only time he did this. He went on to make three other games with Akira Toriyama. As well as taking influence from Toriyama for many things in Final Fantasy.
