Do you finish your games /v/?
100%?
Just the story?
Be honest
>>
>>318173314
I have only ever installed 49% of my 300 odd steam games and finished about 5% and 100%ed 2.
>>
The story or main mode as a bare minimun, unless the game is shit.

I do as much as I find enjoyable, and it's rare to find a game where doing everything is actually enjoyable, so I say it depends of the game.
>>
>>318173314
If the game is good I do more than the essential story stuff. If the game is fantastic I 100% it.
>>
>>318173314
Play until I'm bored
>>
Just the story 9 out of 10 times.
>>
I always finish the main story
some I get 100% for but not many

I have never not beaten a game I started

although, sometimes when I get a game I just kind of mess around a little to see what its about, mess with the settings to get a good framerate, but I never had the intention of beating it that time, but when I do play it for realzies I take it to the end

Completionist here.
I can't finish games because when i do i have to finish every single quest.
RPG are horrible like this, i have to do every single side quest.
You don't want to see me triying to finish Borderlands 2, doing the same shit for 80 hours.
I hate Borderlands 2, and here i am, triying to complete it.

Until I'm bored
>>
>>318173314
Unless the game doesn't have much content, I generally don't 100% anything. In any given game I'd get more enjoyment out of just replaying the campaign multiple times. Gathering every single McGuffin and collectable doesn't really do anything for me.
>>
>>318173314
depends
>>
>>318173826
>>318174260
How long does it usually take for you guys to get bored? How many hours do you usually put into a game?
>>
I used to 100% every game I played. Now I mostly just complete the story mode and move on. Unless it's a game I really love, then I'll complete everything. Post more ass.

It all depends. I'll usually 100% platformers and shit, replay anything else until I get tired, and stop playing JRPGs once the final boss is done.
>>
>>318173314
I usually just finish the story, when the game is good enough i take a look on how long would it take to 100% it and then id ecide if i go for it or not.
>>
never bother to 100% any game. feels like a shore, all you do is waste time collecting junk.
>>
100% playing games just for the story makes you a massive faggot
>>
I've beaten 78.4% of my games, according to backloggery.

I don't typically go for 100% though.
>>
>>318174141
I have a love and hate relationship with borderlands, i really liked the first one but the second and pre-sequel ain't that greate, i guess it is because they focused waay too much on co-op abilities. I don't really know for sure
>>
>>318173314
Play until I'm bored.
Half a dozen games in the past year or three I got some amount through and didn't bother to finish.

Mass Effect 2, Expeditions: Conquistador, Pillars of Eternity, a couple Darkest Hour games, Silent Hunter II... geeze, I need help.
>>
story mode at least yes
try online even at the ones that i think will be shit online
100%? depends
i like the game? yes
there's execeptions (van helsing for example)

Depends on the game, can be 6 hours or 600
>>
Story mostly for RPGs and games with a shitload of minor things and 100% if it's short or I really enjoy it.
Sometimes I will 100% a game so I never have to play it again
>>
I just finished 100%'ing Super Mario Sunshine last night
AMA
>>
I used to stop when I hit a casual filter and play something else since I have so many games
I've started going back lately though and finishing at least the story of my games and I tend to go for 100% of my favorites
>>
>>318173314
Most of the games i play don't have an ending.

Depends on the game and how good the extra content is. I'm sitting at 70% on gtav but can't be bothered to do everything else.
>>
Depends on the game. Like, I've 100%'d every Spyro game. But with Fallout 4 I've barely completed the story and have 3 characters going just because I like trying different playstyles.

If a game has a cool reward for 100% completion, I'll try and go for it.

Shit like the Hadouken in MMX, the Buster Cannon in Dead Rising or any of the other megaman outfits/weapons in other dead rising titles were a good example of giving a player a good reason to go for finding everything/

Despite DR3 running like shit on PC, I had a fucking blast with it. I just wish it ran well.

I've got a backlog of games that I've played just the first 5% or so. Of the rest, I play to finish the story, and get all the endings. If things like monsters and items are numbered, I'll try to fill in all of the lists. If I need a guide just to tell when 100% is achieved, I don't bother.
>>
>>318173314
some games I finish 100%
some games I finish when I get bored
depends on the game.
>>
>>318175760
I was sad when that thread happened, I checked my stats on there and I've played all but 12% of my games. Most people are like you with half their library unplayed.

>>
When you have 3700 steam games, no, you don't.
>>
>>318173314
Depends on how good the game is and if doesn't have shitty collect 300 things in a big ass map like Ass Creed
>>
>>318175760
>only 41% not played
that's better than you think it is
>>
>>318173314
I recently played Aria of Sorrow and Astro Boy Omega Factor, and didnt bother getting the good ending or 100% either on the grounds that:

1. I just skipped all the dialogue and didn't care for the story anyway

2. What I liked about Aria was not knowing what abilities you were gonna get, so knowing I apparently had to farm for some in order to get the good ending was no-no/ As much fun as I was having with Astroy Boy having to basically redo all the 7 stages was just blatant filler, and stage 8 seemed like it it was just another shoot em up followed by a boss rush were you'd be fighting these guys for the third time.
>>
>>318175978
cheap games. i have all that and i mostly play in ps2 games
>>
>>318175442
Morrowind. I love the game but I can just never be bothered to do the vampire clan quests so I'll never be 100% done with that game.
>>
>>318173314
>Do you finish your games /v/?
Most of the time.

>100%?
Rarely.

Nowadays I just don't give a fuck about 100% as long as I get the full story. Tho I still do 100% from time to time.

>>
I almost never 100% games unless I love them.

Recently just finished the story missions for GTA V, enjoyed it but I think I'd agree that the hype was massively overblown.

Currently playing Bloodborne and Super Metroid, and you can but your ass I'm not gonna 100% metroid. That shit is just awful, so much fucking pixel hunting. Great game though.

>>
>>318176341
I ordered mine, don't know what you're talking about. I was order #1 even.
>>
Rarely 100%. Even if the game is great, I'd rather just play it again than search for little things I missed.
>>
>>318173314
Only autistic people 100% games
>>
>>318176517
I'm a poorfag neet
>>
Depends on the game.

In terms of sandbox games, the Ezio trilogy of Assassin's Creed are the only ones I ever bothered with 100%.
>>
To save my sanity, my rule of thumb is beating the final boss means you beat the game

If the game is so interesting and good you want to 100% it, go for it. though it's something that rarely happens
>>
I usually just finish story mode, only 2 games I ever got platinum were Dark Souls and Bloodborne, I've got almost everything on Resident Remake but no fucking way I'm doing a knife only run.
>>
>>318176616

Just Cause 2

Pretty much any GTA except RDR
>>
Neither.

I just play til i get bored, could be anywhere from 5 minutes to 50 hours.
Might come back in a few days
Might come back in a few years
Might never come back.

I think I've 'finished' about 10 games or so.
>>
>>318173314
Clear to the credits. (last boss, etc)

Occasionally a game will come out and I'll go further (like MGS5:TPP) where I do some extra content.

MGS5:TPP as far as I'm concerned, ends after Sahelanthropus, but I did the optional endings, Quiet, Huey, Truth, etc.
>>
I usually play until I see the ending credits, going for most things I see. I almost never go out of my way for 100% though. If there's post-game content I'll almost always play it, though I won't always play that to the end.
>>
>>318176797
I don't understand how someone can do this.

Do you have no commitment? No investment in the game?

I mean I get if you're playing something like Lumines or a multiplayer shooter, then fine whatever, but if you're playing something like Dead Space you just don't finish it?

I don't understand this.
>>
>>318176948
Hell no, that game was shit.
>>
>>318176948
My friend does that, plays a game, says "It's really good!" and then stops playing it.

That said, he's lazy as fuck and doesn't even clean his dishes until he needs them again.

In single player games, I will at them very minimum finish the story if possible or its equivalent. If the game has achievements I will still take my time with the first playthough, and then use repeated runs to get any achievements I missed the first time. Similar situation for secrets and easter eggs - if I find them the first time, great, but on my second run onwards I don't have to worry too much about the story and can spend more time trying to find them.

I disregard the above if its a multiplayer game or a game that requires a lot of time to get everything like Civ 5, where you have to win as every civ, and have so many other things that trying to get all of them is going to be very hard.
