Sony is the new Microsoft this gen simply because every one else fucked up miserably in their presentation and I have had this piece of shit for 2 years and have only enjoyed Bloodborne because Sony is to busy investing in timed exclusives that are also on PC and CoD maps for a month.

Here's the non-shitposting version:
The PS4 has an 8-core CPU. Historically, 2 of those cores were reserved for the operating system and related functionality.
They're now allowing developers access to one of those two reserved cores for use in games.
Assuming the whole core is unlocked and not just a large portion, that's an increase from 6 to 7 cores, or a 17% increase in power.
Note that doesn't mean a 17% increase in game performance, because more cores don't scale 1:1 like that, and games can be throttled by the GPU and RAM as well.
Nonetheless, it's not an insignificant upgrade.

Not a console kek, it's just what I see most of the time in every benchmark of digitalthing on youtube, and the internet in general. I've also seen a few games run IRL in stores or whatever. I noticed that games that run at the exact same settings tend to have slightly less draw distance on xbox but a tiny bit sharper textures. Also colors are more washed out on PS4. Sometimes PS4 has way worse textures but more foliage and objects in the same scene.
I couldn't care less, it's just what I've been seeing since the release of "next-gen". In a general way PS4 has higher resolution but worse framerate.
