Have you gotten your definitive PC controller yet?
>>
>>318121287
Good god I hate the execution on it. They could've done far better.
Still plan on buying one though
I'm a controller whore and I fucking love feeling controllers that do things differently/in new ways

>>
>>318121287
I just use an Xbox360 gamepad
>>
>>318121287
Yee.
Spend a half hour here and there practicing with it in games.
It is good for surfing the internet when you just want to lean back in your chair though.
>>
>>318121828
I used an old ds2 from my ps2
Now I'm using a ds3 from my ps3
And I'll probably get a ds4 when I get a ps4.

I'm interested in the Xbox one elite controller since it can shorten the triggers.
I hate triggers
>>
>>318121727
Get an Xbox One controller.
>>
>>318121287

The PS3 controller is the definitive PC controller, it has objectively perfect symmetry and a good Dpad
>>
>>318122767
but DS3 is a horrible controller
>>
>>318122430
How are the triggers? I know that the D pad is finally not complete fucking shit so that's a plus.
>>
It feels great nigger. If you are having trouble with the mouse pad you are doing it wrong (or the game is fucked up in some way)

Shame about the buttons though, grips help out a lot with that shit

also
>ideal d-pad is xbox instead of nintendo
>>
>convex stick
Thats all i need to know desu
Ill stick to my ds4
>>
>>
>>318122767

The DS4 says hello, fucker. Literally has better everything compared to the DS3. Better ergo, better triggers, better stick spacing, and better d-pad, better overall build quality (I shit you not my DS3 have all creaked and flexed when you put force on them).

Not him but I also use a 360 controller. Used an Xbone a little bit at a friend's place, and it's pretty nice. Little details like rubber padding at the bottom of the triggers really makes it feel more premium. Joysticks have nice grip too.
Makes me want to splurge on the Elite one, if it wasn't so damn expensive and if I used it for more than Rocket League.

What the fuck were they thinking? Why not put a fucking analog stick instead of the top left circle, then a real dpad, not the prototype buttons, where the analog is, and make the face buttons bigger? Also add a circle or two on the right circle so you can keep track of your thumb. They fucked up the execution on the controller horrendously.

Anyone know any cool games to emulate?

I'm of the impression that the wiimote pointer would work fantastic if it worked like in MP3 on its highest sensitivity, with the added quirk that when you pointed to the edge of the screen it rotated the camera at the same speed that you moved the pointer to the edge of the screen with.

I thought MP3's pointer controls set to pro difficulty is the best thing I've ever played, but the only thing that sucked was that you couldn't always turn as fast as you needed to.

I wish the Wiimote was a better controller, and that the wii was a better console that got more FPS games

There'll be no controller like replacement until they figure out a way to use to have the input include wrist as well as finger movements.

The reason why the muse works so well is that you use your wrist for general movements and your fingers for the precision.

A joystick uses only the wrist.
A analogue stick uses the thumb.

A mouse uses the entire hand.

Figure out to do that without needing a base to mount it on, and then you'll have your mouse replacement

or like the Hydra?

Hydra is a pretty cool controller, not a lot of games use hand tracking though,

The ball in the middle of the Hydra sits on your desk, and uses electro-magnetism to detect the distance of each controller

>>
>>318128462
You mean like motion sensing?

I think the Steampad has some motion sensing in it. So you can tilt it with your wrist. The DS3/Sixaxis tried that and it was mostly useless. But, then again, it wasn't mappable.

Nobody would ever agree n64>psx but I wouldn't expect you to know anything because you forgot the Saturn 360 and dreamcast which is the xbox og design straight from Sega engineers
>>
>>318123852
Lefties are fucking gross.
>>
>>318130494

Fuck off you gook dick sucking nigger
>>
>>318130864
The Saturn controller is best left forgotten. The one for nights is ok though.
The real problem with the n64 is the analog stick design.
>>
>>318126941
Perfect for all the one handed mutants out there, also
>Not uncomfortable unless your underage with baby hands
I think you got that backwards m8
>>
Has anyone here actually tried the Xbox one elite controller? If the triggers are good I might actually get it.
e.g when you enter that short mode on them that is
>>
>>318121287
I already have my Xbox360 Wired Controller for Microsoft Windows and I've had it working perfectly for the last 10 years.
>>
I forgot how shitty the PS sticks were. Are the ones for the PS4 Controllers any better?
>>
I got that adapter dongle thing for my Wii U Pro controllers. The lack of analog triggers isn't optimal, but otherwise no fucks given.
The dead is superior, and the controller itself is not as bulky as the Xbone controller. The DS4 is only slightly less horrible than the DS3.

Fuck this Steam mutant abomination though, it's literally useless, just get USB extension cables for your KB+M if you want to play PC games on your couch that badly.
>>
So which controllers do you guys use on PC? I'm playing most of my games with a Gamecube controller but it feels pretty weird not playing Smash with it. I was thinking of getting the 360 controller for Windows.
>>
>>318131981

*d-pad
The Xbone d-pad is too clicky for my tastes, too annoying.

Why not just do this?

Or have a mouse, and then basically a wii nunchuck with extra buttons for your other hand?
>>
>>318132021
I'm using a DS3 since I got it for "free" from owning a PS3. And I think most people are in the same scenario were they use controllers from consoles they have or had.

The only real issue with most modern controllers are the triggers since they are useless for practically all PC games.
In this case older controllers like the DS2 are better since it just has simple buttons.
>>
>>318131821
Nope
>>
Am I the only one who's had every single one of their DS3s busted? It seems as if the triggers fuck up on every single DS3 I come across. That, or the battery dies prematurely.

I have my right arm, I lost my left. I have a prosthetic but it gets sweaty so I don't wear it much except in public. I can play pretty well given my condition.
>>318133510
>How do you control the camera? What games do you play?
There is two thumbsticks, one for the thumb and the other is at the bottom, the right analog stick is moved by tilting the unit against your leg.

I play 4x strategy games and fighting games.

You should get one of those robot hands that are in MGSV and DXHR.

Does the PS4 controller require some sort of drivers for windows? Thinking of maybe using that.

I got my ass beaten to a Ryu on a Smash tournament. He used the Wii U tablet, holding the left stick with his thumb and index finger, and the A, B, X and Y buttons with all the non-thumb fingers.

Jesus, that's embarassing.

Who else holds controllers oddly?

sometimes when i'm eating or when i'm bored i just use my right index finger for the control stick and my little finger for the face buttons.
>>
>>318121489
have you actually used one yet? there's a learning curve initially but i love mine.

so yeah op, i have one. it's significantly better than i expected too, and community support is actually great so there's a shitload of control options to choose from, plus a super in depth customization menu. it's really nice.
>>
>>318129023
yeah there is motion sensing, it's a gyroscope i believe. works pretty well, keep mine on low sensitivity and enable it when i have my finger on the touchpad, helps me line up shots a bit more accurately.
>>
>>318134712
steam controller, seriously. haptics feel great.
>>
>>318135618
I have one, actually. It's better than an analog stick for sure but it's not trackball. And I don't like the haptics, at all.
>>
>>318121287
I got mine in the mail from amazon yesterday, because it's not sold down here in kiwiland its gotta be one of the first in the country.

Valve clearly had no intention of overthrowing xbox controllers with this thing, despite what the early prototypes might have suggested otherwise. I'm still looking for a good usage case of dual trackpads, the left one seems wasted on joystick, dpad or wasd duty, so far the only place it works well is as a jog dial (mouse scroll wheel) in desktop mode.
>>
>>318121287
Will be receiving mine next week and I am rainy looking forward to it.

I'm not expecting miracles, I'm just exactly the type of gamer this thing was designed for. Got a beefy HTPC and nowadays, I'm playing all of my games on the couch. I do have a wireless mouse and keyboard, but that's just not what it should be. Using the mouse is a chore since you always have to deal with some improvised mouse pad. It just sucks.

I'm hoping that the steam controller will be a tolerable replacement for getting around the PC. The ability to play games such as space sims and point & click is almost a bonus for me. A pretty fucking amazing bonus, though
>>
>>318126384
>and best precision.
Have you played like any shooter with them at all? The precision is absolute shit in comparison to something like a 360 controller.
Yes yes >Console shooters.

It would be if the plastic wasn't so shit and the sticks didn't turn to mush in under 6mo.

I've broken the R2 hinge on two of them so far. A black launch one and a white one as well that had the "improved" rubber on the sticks.

It's really frustrating that they are so fragile when the design and contours are so perfect.

I prefer the asymmetrical stick layout and the spongy L2/R2 "triggers" are literally worse than Hitler.

Saints Row 4 is physically fucking painful to play with a PS3 controller. Fuck those fake triggers.
>>
>>318126969
Yes, you can press anywhere on the bumper and it will click.
>>
i have a ds3, 2 ds4, new xbone controller with pc wireless adapter and wired x360 controller.

ds3 is shit.

x360 was good but new models seem better designed.

new xbone, after they fixed the bumpers, is pretty good, though buttons are less responsive than ds4 and tend to get sort of stuck, dpad slightly worse. still on w10 is plug and play, games come with xinput buttons, nothing to mess around with.

ds4 is the comfiest imo, still bluetooth sometimes doesn't work for some games and most of the time you need to get it wired with an xinput emulator.
>>
>>318144225
One other big problem with the DS4 is since Microidiots removed a feature from Windows 10 that allows you to 'hide' the controller itself while still pretending it's an xinput controller, so any game that recognises both controllers at once will double your inputs, basically meaning you can't use it.

As for why you can't use it as a normal controller without xinput in those circumstances, a recent example is Fallout 4; there are actually commands missing if you're not using an xinput controller, such as grenade throwing/bashing for some fucktarded reason. No game has EVER recognised the button placements on the DS4 correctly, either.
>>

I hate the Xbox One but it's controller is the best. Love using it on my PC.

I need to either get the Wireless adapter or a new Micro USB cord though because the cable I had been using has gone to shit. Why are cables so bad now?
>>
>>318138749
It's alright, people just expect it to replace their favorite gamepad when that's not the damn thing's purpose. It's meant to let you play games that require M&K with a gamepad and that's it.
>>
>>318124976
Better sticks/triggers, slightly better d-pad, better ergonomics, better overall build quality, native PC support, optional software that takes full advantage of the DS4s unique features.

With the software you can program the lightbar to represent battery charge etc.. you can use the trackpad as a mouse, or you can set it up so that swiping the pad will switch to a completely different control profile, which in theory would make games with too many controls for a gamepad playable with a gamepad.

It's just overall a better controller and if you like the DS3 you will love the DS4.
>>
>>318125063
How fucking small do your hands have to be to find any modern controller too big? There's never going to be a "mini ds4". There never has been a mini playstation controller. Also that was a question not a comment you retard.
>>
>>318125885
The fuck? Yeah the launch batch on controllers had shitty rubber on the sticks but the shell itself is solid as fuck, 5x more solid than previous gens controllers.
>>
>>318126857
You're literally the only person who thinks that. DS3 sticks are objectively inaccurate with a deadzone the size of a crater. Fucking moron.
>>

That's the vibe I'm getting from the majority of reviews as well. As retarded as I know that sounds, I feel that many people don't "get" this controller.

Why would it be better than a 360 controller at games that are specifically engineered towards the 360 controller? If you prefer to use that one for a game, then grab it and turn it on. It's not a marriage.
