I bought Electronic Gaming Monthly for years, from around 1998 up until the start of the PS3/Wii/360 generation.
I loved that magazine so much. They were thick, like 200 pages each month. I would read every issue over and over. As a little kid I was limited in how often I could get new games, so reading previews and reviews in EGM was sort of my way of gaming vicariously.
It was also the first place I encountered the word "porno". I'm glad I didn't ask my mom what it meant.

didn't get into vg mags unilateral 1993 was really into buying MAD back then and library had vg mags. After 93 bought gamepro, egm and vgce. Did that until mid gen 5. I still have my first mags April 93 vcge and hamepro, both starfox issues. It was a magical time when a youngster was enamored with "adult" games like night trap and cobra mission. Crazy living in a time living vicariously thru screenshots. Neo geo blew my mind and the concept of 200 dollar games.
One thing stuck out from that time, there was a dude named James R Geiger who would send tips for night trap and snatcher. Being a kid I assumed only kids played games and the concept if some kid with parents who let him play those games impressed me to no end. Didn't even cross my miND that he was an adult.
I still have all my mags at my parents house. I read them on their toilet everything I'm over just like I have for 20 years. I have maybe 100 issues memorized cover to cover from

Pretty good buddy
Nintendo Power and Gamepro subscriptions for about a decade, although my family had bought individual copies now and then before that.
Then Game Informer for a couple years and then internet came around and poof goes the industry.

I had a subscription to gamepro magazine way back in the early ps2 days. I remember each author had their own nickname thing they reviewed under instead of using their actual names.
One of my bros had a subscription to egm, so every month we'd get our magazines, read them and then trade so we could read the other. It was a simpler time.
I got a free year of whatever that magazine is that game stop has the last time I was in there, but I only leafed through one or two of them.

I can only really remember Scary Larry.
It was such a catchy name

I took 4 years of Spanish when I was in school in florida, and I could only read tour post because I vaguely remember most of the nouns.
I remember one magazine having this big loadout for Zelda Ocarina of Time with a list of secrets and easter eggs. Made me love the game enough to to try it again after I wussed out of playing it for being "too scary".

Yeah, mostly Nintendo power. I have to unopened copies of the final issue. Younger me thought its rise up in value. One day I'll open one,the nostalgia will probably hit me like a brick. It'll be a comfy read at least

I read a walk through for half-life, and all I remember was that the section with the blind tentacle monsters looked scarier than shit. I didn't actually get a computer until many years later, and the magic was already gone by the time I actually played through HL.

My uncle bought me a club Nintendo magazine when i was visiting Mexico, years later i bought a subscription to Nintendo power.
I used to buy Official Playstation Magazine during the PS2 era mostly for the demo disks, but I liked reading the magazines too. I was kind of sad when they shut down. Then they made a new Playstation Magazine under a different publisher with completely different staff and it was a shit.
I also used to like Electronic Gaming Monthly, but they got shittier and shittier and started shilling for their website so I stopped reading it. Nowadays they're pretty much an irrelevant joke, so that was probably the right call.
For some reason I never owned or read a single issue of Nintendo Power even though I was mostly a Nintendo kid up until the PS2 (and even then I also had a Gamecube).

Niet
I bought Club Nintendo because I lived in a shitty South American country. I didn't even live where the magazine was produced so we would get them a month later. It was shit. I still bought until I was like 15 because I am a loser.
Got some for free when I was a kid. I had enough sense when I was younger to know that they were subjective trash and ultimately someone's opinions =/= my own enjoyment of a game. I would get happy if a game I liked got a good review and noticed a pattern of jrpgs getting small corner-page reviews while western games got 3 pages each
