The thing is, Source engine is still pretty damn good. Even games like Titanfall run on Source and runs surprisingly. It only shows its age in TF2 where the game has become so damn bloated it runs like shit.

Even after all of this, Valve is developing a brand new engine while Bethesda doesn't seem to be planning on making a new engine at all.

There was a four year gap between Skyrim and Fallout 4 and no one gave Bethesda shit. There's a two year gap between Dota 2 and 2015 and somehow a lot of people give Valve shit and think Valve isn't making games anymore, even though they are currently working on a bunch of hardware, Source 2, L4D3, etc., while Bethesda apparently hasn't been doing anything but Fallout 4 and a mobile app for the past four years.

Since it's nothing more than modified GoldSrc, and GoldSrc was nothing more than modified Quake.

Despite that, Source managed to be so awful that it would crash simply by changing video settings. A+ job there, Valve.
