I think the Souls games have made me realise that, actually, not having a completely finished game can work out okay in the long run.
These games end up having their core experience improved a ton by an expansion six months or even a year down the line, where the devs have had time to see how people responded, what they want from the game, and so forth.
The result is something far better than if you just decided to pile everything into the base game and decided to never go back to it afterwards.
Obviously it being paid DLC doesn't really justify it as consumer-friendly, rushing a game or cutting shit out to nickle and dime isn't good either. But Bloodborne as a game now feels way, WAY more "complete" in a way that an extra month or two spent making the original game just wouldn't have lead do.

It's not as hardcore as the reputation of the Souls' games might imply. They are only 'hardcore' in so far as that there's a punishment for dying, which most games just refrain from these days. Even so, losing souls / blood echoes is rarely a big deal. The most 'annoying' thing is probably having to redo certain sections if you keep dying.

All you need to do is beat Amelia to access. Even if you're at the very end of the game all you have to do is pick up an item next to the Doll in the Hunter's Dream and then go to a certain place to be taken to the DLC area.
Even if you're starting fresh if you know what you're doing you can get to Amelia in less than 2 hours.

And Undead Burg and Undead Parish was entirely composed from dudes in armor except for 3 rats, 1 boar and a big dragon that also pops in DaS3's demo. Instead of having rats and a boar, the demo instead has a big guy who can make lasers fall down from the sky and an ice-breathing guy that attacks like a werewolf. The boss fight of Undead Burg is a big humanoid demon, while the boss fight of the demo is a big humanoid from another dimension.
But Undead Burg and Parish weren't representative of the entire game. There was a lot of variety after that. What makes you say it's the same with Lotric?

That being said I don't think it would have been a matter of adding one to two months on. If they really wanted to get it done they would have given the devs enough time to get it done. How is his human head separate from his beast body?
