Finished the game for the second time today.
Overall enjoyed the game, but constantly felt as though I just wasn't enjoying my character enough. Was constantly wanting to start over and wishing for a way to reset my perk points. Reason why is probably the same reason I was never happy with my Skyrim character - the fact that everything in terms of skills is constantly open to you, and there's this ever-looming feeling that you could / should just dump points into some random skill for one single thing, and end up with your character being this jack of all trades, yet master of none type of character. My character has no uniqueness to it when you can just dump perk points into everything. SPECIAL means nothing anymore, because you can now dump points into those to raise them, rather than having to build around your limitations, and actually think about how you wish to distribute your points. No thought ever has to go into developing your skills. At all. Not only that, but the neat and interesting character perks that had pluses and minuses in New Vegas were gone.
It's the samereasons that made Skyrim so shallow.
And then you have the loot system with all the useless garbage "enchanted" items dropping off legendaries left and right - causing actual rare items to end up useless or far less interesting upon their discovery. Ammo crafting is gone again, and once again, when crafting is finally given actual depth, Bethesda removes fucking durability - again, meaning you no longer have to worry about armor and weapon degradation - as if it was such a burden repairing your shit every time you walked into a town.
There's also next to no uniquely modeled items aside from Deliverer.
Overall, game is a soft 6/10 for me. It made a few strides forward in graphics and animations, but Skyrim's shortcomings being carried in made it just as shallow a game, which is truly unfortunate.

It feels so much like Skyrim because they ported Skyrim to next gen consoles, got it working, and then started changing assets into FO4 assets. What's worse is FO4 is actually more dumbed down than Skyrim because stats are gone entirely. The only stats that matter are armor, weapon damage, and health.
Weapon skills and types no longer have unique stat allocations, they're all merged under Small Guns, Rifles, Automatics, Big Guns, Explosives, and Melee.
The perk system is also LITERALLY Skyrim's talent trees, but made more linear.
