Actually, the real reason Goku has always surpassed Vegeta is simply because Goku trains better.
Goku doesn't push himself past his limits like Vegeta does, and he's learned to train more efficiently from his teachers.
Vegeta's training is more brutal and punishing and he doesn't give his body enough time to rest between sessions. Also, up until recently he was always too proud to train under a teacher, or even with a sparring partner.
Note that when Vegeta trains under Whis, he reaches Goku's level of strength in a matter of months.

Bardock was never like the other Saiyans even in FoG. Unlike most Saiyans he cared about his team mates and was fucking pissed when they were killed. And he was pissed off about Frieza planning to kill the Saiyans off.

So far everything that happened is basically Battle of the Gods. The Beerus fight was pretty good in my opinion, everything before it kinda shit. If you don't want to watch the Beerus fight and just catch up, just watch/read the ending of it, where Champa appears, and then the rest. Adds a bit of unique stuff that happens between Champa and Beerus right before Frieza gets resurrected and Resurrection of F begins, but despite being just a small part before going to movie again it's pretty hype shit.

It's not like Power Levels matter, but Gogeta's is 2.5 billion while Super Vegito is stronger than a SSJ4 during his fight with Buuhan and a SSJ4 is stronger than 2.5 billion. The list of power levels on the wiki is wrong past frieza saga before anyone brings any of that nonsense up.

The whole power creep shit really bothers me. I don't want to see Goku become a super duper super saiyan god.
When Goku became an ascended super saiyan, and mastered the 1st form, I felt like that was just perfect, it didn't need to go any further; and any character that was stronger should have been destroyed other, creative methods, or by the rest of the team giving someone their power for a big boost.
I really liked seeing Tien and Krillin actually standing a chance against the enemy. They were the Z fighter's for a reason. But then everyone else became background fodder, and Krillin and Yamcha became litteral comedic relief.

I think it would be fine if it took more resources to perform. It takes such a minuscule amount of energy that there's no reason NOT to do it if you're on defense. They could have made it take as much energy as a super move, or go the Naruto route and make it its own meter that refills extremely slowly, and it would have been fine.
