So /v/, I played Pirate's Curse earlier this year, thoroughly enjoyed it and heard it improves a bunch on pic related. Is Risky's Revenge still worth picking up though?

I did just that for the very first time ever just a month ago, and I had more fun than I'd had in a long while with games.

It's an ok game, probably the weakest in the series though and this is mostly because it was so damn short. If you want more Shantae I'd suggest the original GB game next.

All previous Shantae games worth picking even if they are inferior. The first Shantae is so impressive for a GBC game that it has emulation issues in most GB emulators.

The BGB emulator runs Shantae very well. VBA has tons of problems, unfortunately.

The game is good. The real downside of the game is the short length, which makes it disappointing to someone who played the first game. The amount of labyrinths and transformations in the game is disappointingly small because of that. Other than that, the gameplay and existing level design are pretty good and 100%'ing the game is still gonna keep you occupied for at least 7-10 hours. Add few more hours if you commit to getting all the ending pictures, which includes a speedrun ending that requires you to beat the game in under two hours. All in all, get it if you can get it for cheap.

If you really enjoyed it, kind of, but it's the weaker of the series.
You may still enjoy yourself, but it's really short due to them not being able to do all that they wanted and it sort of shows.
