holy fuck this so much

>Trying to get platinum on RE5 by completing the game on the hardest difficulty

>one hit would put you in a critical state where you needed to be revived by a partner otherwise you'd die and will result in a game over

>resort to online co-op due to partner AI being dog shit

>manage to find someone who's competent at the game

>from 11am to 2am we playthrough the entire game together in one sitting

>we both were constantly dying from stupid mistakes but we we're both determined to finish the game on this difficulty

>midway through our playthrough we plug in our headsets and just start chatting to each other

>by the end of the game we became bros

i hadn't spoken to him since but i will never forget that play session, most fun co-op experience i've ever had playing games
>>
>>318013426
what a ride anon. I can hardly finish games in one sitting but with a friend it's much easier.

Good coop ps4 games? I bought a second cobtroller, but then realized I can't think of a single coop game that I can get for ps4

RE5 is fucking fantastic. I've probably finished it nearly a dozen times. It's just a great co-op experience.

>Game has a co-op mode
>Levels exclusive to co-op mode
>Game has legitimate co-op maneuvers required to clear the stages

I always hate when games have a co-op mode and the 2nd player is just an extra character that has no real effect on the gameplay.

RE5 is also a 10/10 co-op game and one of my favorite RE games. Probably because I never played it by myself. I always had a pardnah with me.

I think Portal 2's co-op and the campaign are flawless. It's fun and it works really well.

I can't call it 10/10 in my mind for some reason, though. I think the problem is that the campaign is somewhat short, and lacks any real replayability since it's a puzzle game.

All the community maps are pretty hit and miss. They have none of the level of quality that the Valve campaigns have. I wish we would get another DLC campaign.
>>
RE5 is pretty much my go to coop game. Played through it with about 10 friends now and we almost always follow up with an infinite ammo speed run after a first "proper" playthrough.

Only played through it solo once and that was with unlimited guns on easy just to see what it was like solo.
>>
>>318012683
Borderlands
>>
>>318017006

I can't call Portal 2 a good co-op game.

It's pretty much one and done by design. After your first experience, it just becomes a chore to play no matter who you play with, almost baby sitting at that point. A good co-op game should be replayable with multiple partners.
>>
>>318013426
Holy shit this, except with my cousin.

Every boss fight we have to truly come up with a game plan, it was nuts.

If anyone got hit, your partner was mashing heal before you died.
>>
I just bought How to Survive is it fun?
>>
I can't get my buddy to co-op re5 with me.

can you co-op RE5 on pc? i'd doubt it.

there is a massive lack of local co-op on pc for reasons completely unknown to me

though I guess consoles are axeing co-op too

The non-gold version has local PC co-op if I recall correctly.

The Gold version removed it.

>"The release note left in there was an unfortunate oversight," he writes. "To clarify though, the split screen code that was ripped out from the PC build is from the console version."

>"The crux of the issue is that the PC code base has no concept of multiple controllers," he writes. "In other words, if you plugged in two Xbox controllers, RE5 has no way of figuring out which gamepad controls which character—or what happens if one player uses a KB+M versus a gamepad. It's a difficult problem to solve since the original game's logic wasn't designed with multiple controller devices in mind."

Fucking casuals. RE5 was easy. There was always ammo and health flowing out of your pockets unless you were really shit. You could dodge all melee attacks and the AI was shit so you could avoid their gunfire. The only way you could get hit is if someone fired an RPG towards you and you were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Even Wesker was easy. You could combo his ass in seconds and beat him.

as someone from the mod community, why does no one ever get the mods they use to be balanced, quality-of-life adjustments and instead be retard trainingwheels easy or why bother levels of hard.

It just upsets me that there are so many nice character mods that are quirky enough that work and aren't broken but people want to use anime character #7 that has a weapon that is infinite durability and does 3x spear damage.

RE6 was 10/10 until the Ada chapters. It's like the devs got lazy and added in "Agent" at the last second, you couldn't trigger any events as Agent, if Ada touches a cutscene trigger Agent is automatically ported to her, kind of silly compared to the rest of the game.
>>
Any great PC local co-op games that actually allow you to use different monitors for different people?
>>
>>318037272
It was 7/10 personally.
Jake/Sherry & Ada/Agent were the worst parts.
The multiple times of stealth bs and escaping from the Hoobastank really killed the enjoyment from Jake's chapter even though I liked the characters.

The Ada problems were the ones mentioned. But at least as Agent when co-oping I got to stare at Ada's sweet heiney.
Fun game but bogged down by really shitty segments of gameplay.

Army of Two was fun as balls with a bro. Had an agro system so one person could lay down cover fire to draw attention and the other could sneak around behind em.

Fuck man, was looking through my personal list of coop games on steam and realized that I haven't actually played coop on more than one or two of them. The main friend I used to play shit with either wasn't interested or can't into unfocused gameplay (sandbox or survival games). After the 5th time of being asked what I want him to do next I was ready to throttle him. So much money down the drain trying to find something we might both enjoy...
