is goku really that unrealistic? sakurai considered james bond for melee after all and he had way more hurdles to jump through with ownership and source material. i know people will bring up the "Manga characters" bit, but that's the same interview where sakurai mentions third-party characters as a courtesy for being on a nintendo console (not to mention it was an interview about brawl).

Name one obscure character that was revealed in this Smash lineup. All the characters that have been revealed so far were extremely hype, well known, or served a major purpose. You could argue about Shulk I guess, but fans rallied to have his game localized, so it was notable. I guess that's also why some people see Shovel Knight over Shantae because he's more popular indie wise.

Didn't stop them adding in Lucina, Robin, and Roy this time around.
The only FE characters that should be in Smash are Marth as the legacy rep and then the main character of the most recent game, so Robin in this case. But FE is a series Nintendo has been trying to make happen for almost thirty years to no avail and finally they got their foot in the door with Awakening as an early 3DS library hit so they're going to shove the series down everyone's throat hardcore, hence having fucking a ridiculous five FE characters on the roster.
