1) It used to be that if you told someone you've done speedruns of game X, it just meant that you planned and executed a run or two. It didn't mean that you played it over and over, grinding out times and using progressively optimizing more routes that are faster and faster but more and more unfun to execute.
2) Speedrunners seem to think their streams are entertaining just because they are speedrunning? I don't know how to word this exactly, but you always hear people recommend someone's stream because of how good they are at game X. Most streams (excluding marathons) are boring though for casual viewers and speedrunners don't seem to understand that. Let's Players create more entertaining content most of the time, and it takes the best of the best entertainers for speedrunning streams to be consistently watchable.
3) There is the implication that people don't replay retro games and/or become masters at them unless they are into speedrunning. There is also this false belief (when the game was historical unpopular or obscure) that the speedrunner is almost immediately more knowledgeable about their game than anyone has ever been up to that point. Um, no. Not if that person has only been running that game for a few months.

Another thing with speedruns is that they're interesting/exciting mostly as finished products, the grind that leads up to them can be horribly boring for both the streamer and the audience. It happens with any game whose competitive aspect isn't real time and/or have very strict execution (shmups are a good example of this too).
