Play the console game if you're in it for anime nostalgia. If you want to play the game competitively ygopro is free on pc, is updated with the latest cards which the consoles aren't and is has no load times.
The best way to learn all the game changes is to play something simple like gravekeepers then when you're confident move up to a synchro deck then an xyz deck, then a pendulum deck and finally play something with a high skill ceiling like D/D/D.

Because unless your locals is infested with metasheep who change decks every set, it allows people to play what they want. In my opinion the best aspect of Vanguard is that the other player is allowed to play the game. You don't pay your cost to activate an ability and then get it countered.

As much as I miss DUEA to CORE formats, I sort of look forward to a less-archetype based meta just to see how broken we can get.
Majespecters are a really generic archetype; although the Spell/Traps require WIND Spellcasters, it'll serve as some future-proof of Konami decides to make another WIND Spellcaster archetype, or gives some reason for decks to main DNA Transplant/Surgery (but why would you). Hell, Unicorn can be splashed into any Pendulum-based deck as its only restriction is to bounce a Pendulum Monster (even itself)
Archfiend Eccentrick and Ariadne are generics literally any deck can be splashed in
Same with Luster Pendulum, although for any Pendulum deck
Wavering Eyes shits on any other Pendulum deck and can be side deck material
Performages are already splashing into everything imaginable as their own engine (Mostly Rank 4 fodder, or Tribute fodder in the case of Valkyrus). Even Brilliant Fusion + Gem-Knight Garnet is being splashing in everything with clowns
Then there's Skullcrobat and Pendulum Sorcerer; you Normal Summon Skullcrobat to search for Pendulum Sorcerer (or for your other scale), Pendulum Summon Sorcerer, pop two cards to search two. It's insanely broken and can be splashed as its own engine in any Pendulum Deck. Throw in Ariadne or Plushfire to plus off of them.
