That's not even remotely correct. FC and SC have been localized and they're a complete saga. TC may or may not be localized, but it's really just an epilogue and sets up for the Crossbell saga.
Sen no Kiseki is already confirmed to be getting localized and it was made in a way that it's not required to play earlier games to understand what's going on, although playing the older games helps enjoy it more.

Well, to me, that means nothing because FC is my second favorite game ever - Second only to SC. If it was equal to or better than FC, then it would be a hell of a game. Even assuming it's worse than FC, it could still be a hell of a game, and most likely is considering it's part of the Trails series.
Anyway, it's never been a policy of mine to listen to people who are long-time fans of a series when it comes to one of the newest games because you often hear "the old games were better, this game sucks, waaah." You get the same thing with music. Everybody thinks THEIR favorite old games are the best. It's just not a reliable place to get your opinion on a game from.
I'd prefer to play the game myself and make my own decision. You'll never hear me writing off a game in a series that includes two of my favorite games just because some long-time fan/elitist on the internet hated it.

Does hard mode REALLY require you to fight non-quest-related battles in order to proceed? Or do people just say that because they are retarded and unable to use the most basic tactics? Most of the time people will say that JRPGs require grinding because they require grinding in order to win without thinking, so I want to make sure. You don't really need that much extra experience to win on higher difficulties, and you don't even need to grind anyway because of EXP scaling.
What you DO need is sepith to get good quartz and monster drops to craft all the good healing items, so some grinding (on shining poms or otherwise) is inevitable.

This isn't official, but I'm pretty sure there's a significant boost to it. I've run some experiments, and generally a 200-level S-craft is even better than something like a 175-level S-craft and a regular craft.
Also, for Kevin, his S-craft lasts two turns instead of one when it hits 200.

Chapter 8 can be as long as you make it. You can either do several full sidequests and fight several optional monsters or you can ignore most of it and trigger the end-of-chapter sequence right from the get-go.

Well, that was kinda dumb
I can understand the changes they did to the story to make it flow better, but at the same time someone who hasn't played the game won't get anything while those who HAVE played the game will only scratch their head throughout the whole thing.
I did however enjoy myself while watching it so I'd recommend it if you've already played SC up to Chapter 7

What I like about the game is the attention to detail. It has soo much damn dialogue, every single NPC is its own character and they will always say something different depending on where you are at the story. I'ts not something you need to do to enjoy the game, but it gives you an idea of how much love went into the game.
I also think it restrains itself well. The game doesn't start off with explosions and the end of the world, it rather takes its time to let you immerse yourself into the detailed world and warm up to the party. Depending on if you like what you see or not its a very nice change of pace, thats also however the reason why so many people call it a snorefest, because its really slow. But there's a lot to appreciate about it and once the situation really does escalate you'll feel much more invested to it.
It has very extensive dialogue, there's seriously a ton. Its very fun to read though, I'm not a person who likes to read much usually but I try to suck up every single dialogue I can get out of the main party.
I'd usually say try it out and refund it if you don't like it, but the 2 hour limit on refunds wouldn't do this game justice.
If you like JRPGs I'd definately recommend you to take that gamble and play it, its only 8 bucks right now I think.

I found the beginning to be overall charming and fun in a relaxing way, but it took some dedication to get through it. Not bad, but a little taxing.
I'd say that I was hooked at chapter 3 though, which is 13 hours into it I think?
Again, not saying the beginning is bad at all, its just that there's a certain point at which the game kind of "clicks" with you and it starts being twice as fun, and that was around that point for most people I think.
Once you're at that point you'll probably rush through it all towards the ending and beg for the second chapter, which luckily just came out a few weeks ago.
