It's a series about social commentary through allegorical diplomacy with alien races. It doesn't exactly lend itself to a fun game

Yeah, some. Most of those though are just shooters or spaceship battle games which just slap the Star Trek aesthetic on. Few which really capture the essence of the series but point & click adventures is one of the genres than can. If OP wants a good Star Trek game. Maybe the Star Trek themed Settlers of Catan

I'm going through Voyager right now. Why does no one like it? It's like TNG without the hamfisted aesopian moral BS.
>>
>>317881035
Because the Captain gets them into trouble and never takes personal responsibility when she has an opportunity to get them out of it afterward. The premise is squandered, the characters are dull, the plots are absurd (hyper evolved space geckos) and it neutered the Borg.
>>

>>

>>317881035
It has its ups and downs but its downs are atrocious. They couldn't seem to agree on a single characterization for Janeway so she comes off as schizophrenic. Chakotay's actor was actively trying to get himself fired, which is why his performance gets worse. Warp 10 lizards.
>>
>>317881035
i enjoyed voyager on the whole, but the Captain is a full blown retard that almost gets the crew killed countless times while shitting all over the prime directive
>>
>>317881035
Loved Voyager. My mother basically grew me up on that series. She literally watches it a few teams each year along with some Deep Space Nine. I don't like Captain Janeway much. She only bends the rules when it suits her. Makes sense though.

Fair enough. Although all the captains "bend the rules" when they feel like it. Except for the lizards. They get undue hate imo.

To me, that episode was about something weird and alien happening and the crew dealing with it. Which is what all trek should be.

Voyager is great but not nearly as good as TNG and DS9, those two transcend criticism.

It has its good and bad episodes but I really liked the whole 'oh shit we're fucked in the middle of no-where with a 75 year trip home' and fleshing out the Borg a lot more.

TNG actually has my least favorite trek episode. It's the one where they find two disparate human colonies, and, instead of helping them or leaving them alone, Riker murders two people and forces the scientist society to breed with Victorian era Irish steryotypes.

I loved VOY because it was more like TOS. They're actually charting totally unknown territory, their ship, while powerful, isn't a flying hotel/dreadnought. The Captain is flawed, and the crew is bunch of talented fuckups. There are definitely bad episodes, but the overall concept was great.

Subpar acting (bear in mind much of this was on at the same time as DS9)

Neutered plot - the ship should have been limping along, getting damaged along the way. It should be struggle, but it looked like a Sunday stroll.

Way too much reliance on holodeck episodes. (All of them had this issue, but Voy seemed the worst for it).

Thing is when you stack the cloak attack bonus, beam overload and self buffs it turns the bop into a can opener. You fire once and then book it to recloak, meanwhile your victim is either dead or about to die to your team. Great in pvp but worthless in pve.

I'm trying to understand cognitive dissonance; when multiple people who have played the same game you have say you're shit, are your attempts to redirect the fault of your negative experience onto the game a conscious effort in order to save face and prevent yourself from believing that you're simply bad at video games, or do you actually believe your experience to be the "correct" one, that it is the game that is bad and not yourself?

1. The predictable story
2. The bugged character creation
3. The jank ass controls and
4. The stupid ass overworld / overgrid / over-universe whatever

Why focus on that instead of all the other obvious problems the game has? And what's really laughable is that you can't even tell me that piloting the beginner ship is silky and smooth and easy.

2: the "bugged" character creation is just a placeholder alien for the create-your-own-species option, maybe if you read it more carefully you would've noticed this
3: i'm not sure what to say, beyond that turning in combat isn't important unless you're packing a specific weapon type

Why did the bajorans suddenly become unstoppable killing machines? It was implied at first that their resistance had no significant effect on the Cardassian occupation, even their greatest war hero just kind of stabbed a dude when he was naked. It was something the Cardassians would taunt the bajorans with.

Then Nariz suddenly became the go to expert for assymetrical warfare (in space, no less), and I think in that episode where Kira's dad dies she gets angry at herself for only killing two dozen or so "cardies".

Forget Ducats weird turn as a character. Someone explain the bajorans to me.
