Trails FC and Trails SC complete the story of Joshua and Estelle.
A third game exists, but it is more of a sidestory that leads into the Crossbell and Erebonia arcs. If you wanted to, you could just play Trails FC and Trails SC and end there. You would be getting a full story from beginning to end, and it is a really good story too.
So far, Trails FC and SC are the only ones to be localized. Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2 (Erebonia Arc) are currently being worked on as we speak.
There are no direct plans for the Crossbell or the 3rd games yet that we're aware of, but Cold Steel is definitely coming.

Because the first game didn't even come to America until 2011, and it bombed big-time on the PSP.
Releasing SC in the west really only took off again when they released the first game on PC last year and it did really well. So it took them a while and they weren't even sure if they wanted to do it at first since the first game bombed miserably in 2011 when it released for PSP only.
TL;DR Series bombed in the west, but steam/PC gave it new life.

Neither do I, newfriend. I grew to appreciate Estelle for the way her character was handled throughout the game and the way she developed and grew as the game went on.
Look, I'm not putting anyone on a pedestal. I'm just saying that her character was really well done and grew on me. All the other characters did, as well. Olivier is hilarious. I can empathize with Joshua's story. All the characters are great, but Estelle's journey of personal growth is the focus of the game for the most part.

PC version is a much better experience overall. Graphics are much better. They took the HD assets from the Japanese PS3 version and put them in the PC version. It just looks better. The translation is more recent as well.
Ultimately, it's up to you, but I played both, and the experience playing the PC version was superior in every way.

You can skip the fights if you don't want optional stuff. You can also skip encounters because you can see enemies on the map. The pace of fights is admittedly slow but that doesn't mean it doesn't have challenge. This is just plain false. Titanic Roar is pathetically easy to get midgame and you have a choice of Death Scream/Cocytus late game, and those are the only offensive spells that actually matter. Healing arts are wasted on her, don't even bother.

I don't think there are any characters as good as Kevin except maybe Agate and Joshua when his delay bullshit actually works, so that seems kind of unfair to hold against her. And even then, they still both do roughly comparable raw damage when you take speed into account.

Was she supposed to be bad? She has no physical damage but I can easily spam Death Scream every turn, while having access to the best healing spells and clock up ex/clock down for boss fights. Also her Sieg craft that lowers defense is too good against the bosses that are vulnerable to it.
I used her and Agate for the final chapter and it was a breeze. Agate with max damage is a beast if you spam his S craft and Rage, I basically skipped all fights in the last chapter except for the bosses.

In my game in the final chapter she had over 800 ATS and had more defense than anyone in my party because she was the only one that didn't need an attack 5 quartz. I also had on her a Shield 5 just in case, she had lower HP than Agate but I'm sure she was tanking more than him and anyone in my party, not that I needed it since I could easily spam that heal-all art every turn if I needed since her mana pool is pretty absurd with every slot upgraded.

I just finished the fight normally with my other 3 characters, it wasn't particularly hard either, except that I got a bit scared at the very end when he started casting the vanquishing thing again, just before I killed him.

That attack is removing the floor. If a character is on the cross-shaped area where the floor is removed then that character is gone for good.
The lackey robots can also do the same thing, removing a random panel of the floor around them.

Yeah he targets an area of the battlefield, creepy looking magic circle type thing, but I figured "eh, I have Earth Wall on everyone". They were all bunched together because they kept getting knocked back to the edge of the area so I had given up on having Agate and Estelle run up to hit him. Joshua missed getting hit by it by one fucking square.

It doesn't have the same appearance of that targeting circle/line that spells have, so it's pretty obvious when he's getting it ready IF you know that he has it.
