Non, but a friend of mine did his examination paper (he's a teacher) doing a linguistic analysis of the languages in Skyrim.

Funny thing is that the teacher acting as advisor was a 50 year old lady who played Skyrim on her spare time.

the only paper I've ever had to write in college was a 5 page report about the usefulness of Hastelloy C-276.
I did write a paper in highschool about how videogames are unjustly used as a scapegoat for violence. Got a B- for various spelling errors and shitty sentence structure, English isn't my strong suit.

I didn't do a college paper, but my high school English research paper was about violence in video games. Jack Thompson was big back then.

It pretty much amounted to "Nah, it doesn't cause people to turn violent," but the real goal of the paper was to demonstrate that I could cite multiple sources.

One guy in my class wrote his paper about the philosophy of The Simpsons.

>>

Where the fuck do you go, I want a vidya class
>>
Wasn't autsitic enough to write a paper but I did win a debate about video games one time in a psychology class.

It was a class full of women (ex-nursing major here) and the professor was a super old retired army veteran who didn't know jack shit about vidya (I don't blame him, if I was his age vidya probably wouldn't interest me).

Anywho, somehow we got on the topic of violent video games and of course 90% of peple in the room immediately get on their moral high horse and start pointing out how call of duty and GTA V are turning kids into rapists, misogynists, psychopaths, and criminals. At every point I pretty much shot down every wrong thing they said by pointing out that the ESRB exists and games are rated (just like movies, which nobody seems to have a problem), a game cannot go on sale unless it has an ESRB rating, the content within a "questionable" game is readily available to parents with access to the Internet and ratings ON THE FUCKING GAME BOX ITSELF, part of being a decent parent is assessing such content and applies to all media, and that, at the core, every "video games are bad" arguement has been shot at every art form in its infancy (comic books, movies, music, etc.) only because people don't know about those art forms and bad parents want to find excuses for being bad parents. I even went full sperg and had a copy of GTA V in backpack to use as a demonstration (Wasn't planned, got it the day before and didn't have time to play it)

We had to do a write-up for all in-class debates (for some reason) and when I submitted mine it was the highest grade (perfect 100) out of all the ones I submitted at the end of the semester. He was a cool professor.

I broadcasted my power level to everyone in the class, but it just pisses me off when ignorant dumbasses try to argue about things they have no knowledge of and most of them were annoying twats anyway.

>video games do not cause violent behavior
Depends on how old you are when you play them. Young children imitate almost anything they see, with little knowledge on what it is they are doing. They might not even know what "violence" is but they connect this behavior to role models which isn't very good. And as for adults: Some people are simply so dumb that video games do affect them, like children. Of course not as much, but hey I'm sure the US military wasn't supporting COD because it was such a great FPS.

No. It was just bullshit. I dropped out 6 months in amd didn't pay a cent. Instead, I started working at 18, and now I have a well-established job with tons of experience and a strong future. I live by myself and make a solid income. I have plans for investments to mske bigger bank and pursue personal goals, and I'm only 25.

Meanwhile, most of my classmates from hs are still haggling for their first job.

During undergrad, I wrote about the Rare Earth hypothesis, space elevators, an analysis of the black humor in Dr. Strangelove, and my undergrad thesis was on language attrition.

In graduate school, I've written papers on commercial space law, international arbitration centers in the middle east, and I'm currently working on two papers on current developments that I hope to submit for publishing in legal journals.

I don't think I've ever written anything on video game shit, and likely never will.

I knew the professor loved Metal Gear and had a degree in "Gender Studies". So I made it about the relationship between Meryl and Snake and player expectations of masculinity.

I got an A.

And then he helped me get it published in an academic journal.

Not College/Uni but...

On my first day of Year 7 (UK. About 12 years old iirc) our tutor got the whole tutor group (Group of about 20 or so people who share a common room and take register every morning and shit) to give a short, video recorded presentation on their hobbies. I gave a 5 minute speech explaining the plot of Perfect Dark (I distinctly remember telling everyone how there was an alien called Elvis) including the local multiplayer and how much I fucking hated peacebots. Had slight cringes all though secondary school thinking about it but laughed it off and forgot about it. In the last week of Year 11 just before we went on to College she brought out the VHS tapes and showed them to all of us. It was hilarious and awkward at the same time and nobody, not even the popular girls or the sporty kids came away unscathed (I remember one of them talked about loving Chelsea and in the intervening years had bandwagoned over to United and looked like a right arsehole).

Did a presentation in college on teamwork using World of Warcraft as an example about how different roles help make up for weaknesses of other roles in order to win the battle ahead. All in all i guess it rounded up to how it's better to have a group of people with different skills working together to solve a problem or situation rather than having a group of people with the same skills and abiltiies.

Nobody was interested but my teacher was really interested. He asked me a bunch of questions and i scored an A on it.

Even though my normie delinquent classmates were disgusted about my grade i was still the go-to guy everyone in class would come ask for help with either their computers or homework.

I sure as hell was a nerd and loser back in 2008. But at least i wasn't a lonely suffering nerd.

Some Chads called Zoe ugly as fuck when they saw her pic online and started joking about how the fuck she managed to fuck 5 guys and why they would bother, and the teacher straight up called then mysoginistic. to be fair, as much as I like Sartre and the literary cannon, it's a bit difficult to find anything new to talk about without going totally off base. Like, shit dude, we've been combing over Shakespeare and the like for centuries. While I'm sure that every generation is going to find ways to relate classic literature and prose to modern situations, it's ok to admit that we don't really need to examine Shakespeare for our writings to be legitimate. I mean, doing an in depth analysis of the new Terminator can yield important knowledge about the world around us and the attitudes that we hold.

You do know that MS Word has a button that literally does everything for you? You click one button to insert in-text citations or entire bibliographies. You can do that in APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.

The difference between the latest two versions of MLA and APA are insignificant. The basic citation style is still the same and you wont notice the difference until you're writing a thesis or journal articles. Your professor won't care if you use the outdated citation style, as long as you properly give credit to your citations.

Class called Literature and Music
Wrote a paper about music as a tool of immersion in vidya. Got an A. Talked a lot about Persona 4, also mentioned Mass Effect, Silent Hill, Bioshock, Guitar Hero, and Fate/Stay Night. On P4:

>By psyching the player up with the rock version of the song – as well as by having the bosses hurt the player and attempt to halt their progress, as bosses in games are wont to do – the game seeks to put the players in a position to act aggressively towards the shadows. Instead of calmly going over the characters' insecurities, they are guided to hate, just as the characters themselves do. And after the fight, the slow piano and trumpet turn the player in the complete opposite direction, by using the exact same theme to drive home the point that what they should be doing is not acting with aggression, but understanding. The music is used to manipulate the players' feelings towards the shadows, inside and outside of battle.

>>317730106
I feel it. I mean, the problems that it intended to look at are still present and the SJW types that wrote themselves mean comments in the beginning to make assholes think they are in good company never got outed. So, for all intents and purposes, it's still going on, but the fact that people see this whole thing as "noble" or whatever is indeed pretty shit. The only thing that would finish this is to have one of the anti-GG writers suddenly snap and confess in a final article for IGN or Kotaku or whatever and then quit. But, that'll never happen. The ultimate "victory" for anybody that cares about the original principles of GG will most likely come after the vidya industry crash that's on the horizon.

Don't they have websites where professors can upload papers and compare them to similarly structured papers or do professors not actually bother with that shit?

Wrote a paper about how video games are art.

Got an A and the professor told me it was one of the best argument papers she had seen in her class and asked if she could use it as an example for future classes.

I saw this engineering nerd once, analyze the fuck out the mixing some shitty strategy game. It was interesting how he was able to describe the recording environment accurately without having ever seen the location, esp. Numbers and shit. Takes talent.
I don't think the dude liked video games though, from the way he spoke it seemed purely coincidental.

You're lucky you have incompetent professors who don't use software to check for plagiarism.

Wrote about how video games do not cause children to be violent and there is nothing wrong with fantasy violence

Only paper I got a bad grade, just gave up and wrote the rest of my papers about feminism or social justice or some other gay shit to get easy grades

It's called "History and Evolution of Videogames"
Next semester I'm taking a class on videogame narrative and another on videogame aesthetics.

Yes but they only find direct or incredibly close copies, thus the thesaurus. Also that didn't exist back when I was in the 5th grade. Still totally works though, just need to make sure you change enough. Bonus points if you interweave the material so it can't match the blocks of info.
>>
I did mine on the ethics of pirating video games, having to analyze the reasoning behind being for or against it, and from a professional's point of view, determine which side was correct. I was for pirating. Got an A-
>>
Somehow I still haven't written a college paper about videogames despite the fact that I go to school for videogames

I wrote out the Halo 1 campaign

>all these niggas who got A's for writing about video games and shit they actually liked

Man, past-me made such shitty choices for schools. I mean I liked writing and still got A's, but practically every teacher I had said we had to pick topics from a list and video games were always off limits. I fucking hate school.

For the americunts, how much is an A+ worth from 0 to 10 points? B and C?
This always confused me. Isn't an A already the maximum? Or is it 10 with honors or something?
>>
>>317731404
Hey m8, I'm not trying to come off as a genius for saying that both sides of every issue contain idiots, I'm more specifically pointing out that for certain issues, the same rhetoric and phrasing can be used to denounce either side. And that's a bit weird, since you would assume that opposing ideologies or stances on an issue would mean that they can't be equated using the same words. Like, you couldn't criticize the problems with marxism with the exact same set of words you could use to deride capitalism, right? So i'm just saying it's a bit weird that you can do that here.

A: 100-90
B: 89-80
C: 79-70
D: 69-60 (Oftentimes won't give credit)
F: 59-0

How would they know it would be from video games? There's 1000s to choose from?
>>
>>317731840
A+ is basically the highest grade, 100%. A is in the mid-90% range.

Jesus fucking christ, why do you people like to advertise the fact that you're fucking stupid? How come everyone who hates and criticizes gamergate always a fucking retard?
>>
>>317731840
If there are pluses and minuses just subdivide the range so:
A+: 100-98
A: 97-94
A-: 90-93

>>317731840
I don't think A+ existed at my college, nor my high school. A was 100.
>>
>>317731840
I haven't heard of a school using the +/- system in awhile, and it's hard to explain it because different schools could use different grading scales. Usually the +/- was just used to denote whether you got a high grade or a low grade in the range. For example:
A = 90-100
A+ = 95-100
A- = 90-95

>GG became overwhelmingly saturated with people that think that making rape and/or bomb threats via the internet lends them any kind of legitimacy.

Hello SJW

Why do you think lying about gamergate so consistently is helping your cause? Do you know that its people like you that makes anyone who considers themselves an anti-GG cringeworthy?

How come you leftist progressives can't shut the fuck up GG? You spend all this time attacking legitimate points that the movement brings up, but you just scream "DAY HATE WOMEN" and defend a pedophile. Embarrassing. You leftist progressive can't get it that your entire worldview is wrong.
