I haven't played the expansion yet so I wouldn't know how good it is, but it's pretty retarded that people just shit on ds2 and then praise bloodborne for doing some of the same things that game did.
Some of the levels of bloodborne are just as linear as dark souls 2, the areas are barely interconnected (except for that time you open up iosefka's clinic every area just has one entrance and one exit, with cathedral ward being the hub area), you actually fight reskinned enemies when you get to the endgame (warewolves become some rotten corpses shit, pigs get more heads, crows and dogs swap heads, etc.) with no changes to their movesets, there's barely any build variety (with the game only having six stats) and the chalice dungeons are absolute shit.
As I said, I liked the game for what it was just as I liked dark souls 2 for what it was, people calling one of them the best and the other the worst are just retarded 14 years old kids who have been plagiarized into thinking that Miyazaki is based god because that's what marketing told them.

"Beast mode" is a rune called "Beast" gives you a passive bonus to your Beasthood meter and also gives you a special moveset when you equip the Beast Claws. Also, you grow fur, your ribs are more apparent and it makes you look very sickly and feral. However, you are affected by serrated weapons and beasthunter gems when you have that rune equipped.
"Kin mode" is a rune, too, called "Milkweed". It gives you a special moveset when you equip theKos Parasite, which is obtained from the final boss in the DLC. You grow a disturbing, blue cauliflower head and grow two tentacle arms if you equip that weapon I mentioned. Your rolls also become awkward flips and you can do a special Wrath of the Gods-like spell with your L2 if I'm not mistaken. Just like the "Beast" rune, you take more damage from Righteous weapons (Threaded Cane, Logarius' Wheel, Church Spike, etc) and kinhunter gems will deal even more bonus damage to you.
Anyway, level 4 ritual blood can be obtained from the kidnappers in the Lower Pthumerian labyrinth. You can also purchase them from the messenger shop, but I think you need the Yharnam Stone for that.

Chalice Dungeon 101 (For Anon):
>Chalice Dungeons come in two forms: story and root. Story dungeons are fixed and do not change. They require fewer materials in order to make and are pretty much required if you want to progress into the deeper chalice dungeons because you are going to need better/different materials for different chalices.

I thought frozen loyce was kinda weak level design, it's hard to tell while you're going about it, probably because of the snow and stuff, but he actual path of the level disappointed me after I finished it, sunken had some really stupid annoying enemies like the moving "fuck you" statues and the ganksquad (like all the challenge bosses I suppose) was really weak, aesthetically it's 10/10 though, and the iron one had great level design, was at times brutally difficult and had great bosses but aesthetically was drab and uninteresting. In totality though they are great

I liked the ganksquad. Personally, when I walked through the fog and found an actual NPC gank squad waiting for me, I thought that it was funny as fuck. You also need to use radically different tactics during the fight than with other bosses, so I thought that it was a nice change of pace. The other challenge bosses can go to hell, though

SKL weapons are very plentiful. There's a huge variety of them.If you're not fond of the Cane's damage output, then try out the Saw Spear. You can find it in Yharnam.
Also, make sure to spend leftover echoes on blood vials. I've never had to grind past my first, unfinished playthrough as soon as I started doing that.
