Pokemon was huge for a number of reasons, but the conditions just aren't the same as when Pokemon launched. Kids are playing on 3DS, they're playing on Mobile. For YW to be as successful as Pokemon was in the west, it has to go to mobile. The install base is there.
Pokemon is still doing well because it appeals to a small branch of kids with 3DS's but also banks on nostalgia. YW doesn't have that nostalgia so it isn't doing well with adults. And in 15 years time it's unlikely that the people who played YW on 3DS will still be looking forward to the new one

It was nowhere near the amount that mobile games have, and success is based on entirely different ways between them. For mobile, it essentially boils down to "how much can I cheat the customer" 99 percent of the time.
And besides, are phones even capable of running a game such as Yokai Watch with without severely downgrading it in some way? The graphics are fairly impressive for a 3ds game, and the game play is designed around it to the point where I can't really see how that can translate to mobile in any way.
