You shouldn't worry about it, the only time there is a callback to earlier games is a little bit of 'taste' notes in the hidden locations(you propably wouldn't even notice if you did play them) and an after credits scene.

Can't say on DeS. DaS is admittedly overhyped but I still consider it a damn good game and ranks as one of my all time favorites. DaS2 is not as bad as people say it is but I personally still consider it a step down from 1. With that said I never played the DLC which is supposed to be much better.

The best entry level Tomb Raider is Anniversary. After you get used to the gameplay, then try in release order.
Most people nowadays who havent seen/played tomb raider try to jump into the PS1 tomb raider 1 and are completely turned off by the graphics and such. Anniversary helps you learn to backwards appreciate the series.
