For past games I was hovering at around 150-200 hours but the total ease of breeding in XY coerced me into going full autism on it, despite not enjoying the actual games as much as previous entries.
I think my second highest was 250 in Soul Silver, and that was because it was the game in which I discovered IVs/EVs and tried to fill the National Pokedex.

Had a whole Skype group going with a good dozen people playing every day.
Breeding wasn't even bad because everybody would share breeding rejects and leftovers, and even spare perfect 5IV Pokemon in the later months of the game.
Constant 4-way free-for-alls with Pokemon with competitive stats and players knowing the game inside and out, but nobody taking anything seriously.

It's very easy to rack up 75-100 hours on your main file if you feel the need to clear all maps or strengthen your army beyond what you need to beat the game.
With multiple difficulty options and spouses, many people will want to play more than once.

Bought my 3DS for Animal Crossing and Smash but ended up getting over 300 hours in MH3U before I lost it and 900 hours in MH4U alone.

My friend plays exclusively Hammer and he's also having some difficulty getting deep into the game. He dropped 3U around Duramboros and he's already wavering in playtime in 4U near the end of offline Low Rank.
I think that Hammer is just so boring, especially to a new player who doesn't know enough about monster behavior to constantly land golfswing headshots.

Tales have never been hard on normal playthroughs, If you're looking for a challenge then turn up to unknown or try a solo run (guy is a lot of fun for that) or both. Bonus bosses also fill in the gap.
Xillia 2 is the best 3D combat, so unfortunately you can only go down from there, but the other games are still totally worth playing despite that. Abyss is still my favorite for the story, for example. Vesperia plays differently than Xillia 2 and some prefer it, so you can look forward to that. I highly recommend Destiny Directors Cut, it's up there with Xillia 2 for heart-pounding cuhrazy combat.

1st: ALEX RIDER STORMBREAKER (DSTwo), 651:26, it should be obvious why this is number 1
2nd: Pokemon Y, 489:07, I'm surprised that this has so many hours but I have 3 playthroughs of it under my belt with a lot of breeding as well. Alpha Sapphire has only 115:11, which shows how much of a disappointment it was in comparison (really wanted new battle facilites of some kind)
3rd: FE: Awakening, 480:15, a lot of this is just mindless grinding on one specific save, it's just too imbalanced to really go back to and have fun again after playing the JP version of Fates
Since the DSTwo isn't really a 3DS game I might as well throw in number 4: AC:NL at 393:23. Lot of fun but there just weren't enough villager slots for the amount of personalities there were and eventually I just ran out of stuff to do. Really want a WiiU or NX one that isn't a board game that makes NL feel like Wild World in comparison to City Folk (i.e. super outclassed).
5th is Pokemon Black 2 with 239:14, combining it with White 2 (got for $15 a couple of months after release for replays) gets me 291:16. Really loved the PWT, I wish something like it makes it into Z.
