Nothing really. AC3 did suck but Unity wasn't as bad as people claimed and Syndicate isn't as great as Unity imo, but it's still not that bad of a game. The series does need a rest because it will get worse with the yearly releases. All in all, AC2 is still the best in the series.

"Assassin's Creed 3" should have been the Kenway trilogy, where you play as Edward, Haytham and Conor in order.
"Assassin's Creed 4" should have been a "Revolution" game (either duology or trilogy) in Paris and London.
"Assassin's Creed 5" should be a more northern Europe, Scandinavia and Russia.
"Assassin's Creed 6" should have been all the Asias together.
Release them two or three years apart, each adding some new fatures, dumb down the combat, emphasise the climbing and stealth and 'endless possibilities' for ACTUAL assassinations and we're set.

With the abilities they have, how would human rebellion even be possible? How would they be distracted enough to not notice the sun is going to fucking raze the planet? The shroud rebuilds you on a molecular level. In the final boss fight in Syndicate they keep getting killing blows on the bad guy but his wounds heal almost instantly.
