ePSXe is fucking shit, stop already. Get RetroArch Mednafen. You'll almost undoubtedly need to get a new image of the game that will work with it (it requires properly ripped bin and cue files), but it's far better than ePSXe. Mednafen also has a functional speedup unlike all the other PSX emulators.
If you absolutely must have your plugins for muh shaders then at least use PCSX-R instead.

Is this some epic new meme? Rogue Galaxy has long had issues in PCSX2, with crashing among them, particularly when you leave the jungle planet and enter the city. There was a progression-blocking crash that would trigger whenever you walked past a certain point.
It may well be fixed now but it wasn't fixed two years ago.
>>
>>316627760
>Like the first half being amazing and then the second half being nothing but corridors with a crappy plot reveal?
Pretty much. Once you hit the backtracking part the game just started declining. I also really wish the plot would've stayed on the smaller, personal scale of the first half rather than making you have to save the fucking world (not sure if that's what you meant by the crappy plot reveal).

>Are you emulating the wiimote instead of the CC?
I am! For some reason I didn't think about the game supporting CC despite it not using IR whatsoever. Thanks for that!

That's a shame. I was really looking forward to it after constantly hearing BEST JRPG OF THE PAST 10 YEARS, but I'm really not seeing what's so special about it. Guess I'll drop it for now and maybe pick it back up later if I'm in the mood for an offline MMO. Thanks for the heads-up.

Well, that and the explanation given for how and why everyone disappeared, which I found to be rather unsatisfactory, though I honestly can't remember it that well at this point.

I disagree with the other guy about Xenoblade, though. The quests are weak but the exploration is pretty good with a heap of different environments, and I thought the story was great. It's a very long and fleshed-out one which you don't get too often in modern JRPGs.

>Well, that and the explanation given for how and why everyone disappeared, which I found to be rather unsatisfactory, though I honestly can't remember it that well at this point.
Oh right, I forgot about that but I had a problem with it too. The explanation was that scientists developed Glass Cage as a way of linking everyone's consciousness (or something along those lines), but when they used it it just ended up killing the majority of people instead.
I thought it made no sense because most of the memory items you find make it pretty clear that people knew that everyone would die soon, but Glass Cage was supposedly universally well-received and its actual effects were unknown.

Unless you're emulating consoles with near perfect emulation (like the NES and SNES), you're really just spoiling games for yourselves by playing them with glitches and stretching out the resolutions.

You can get a CRT for 10 bucks, most 3D consoles for not much more than that, and some form of modchip, softmod, or flashcart for pretty cheap.

I don't know how people can stand to play emulated titles.

Even something with heavy work, let's take OoT as an example. They really tried. They pulled out all the stops. And it still looks like dogshit compared to the console because of the weird 3D rendering the N64 used.

When you move up to PS2 and Wii, the games are so buggy that it doesn't even make sense. How can you watch some texture flicker like a mad-man constantly because you're too poor to just buy a console?

Drop DDS. The first game is great but it ends with a cliffhanger and the second game is utter garbage that shits all over the great setup and promising story for the sake of turning it into a bad Buddhism allegory. It's also 2/3 the length of the first game while also having literally the entire second half just be climbing the plot-less final dungeon.
Everything else is fine, but did you get the undubs for Persona?

I was trying to play King's Field 2 recently but it has severe slowdown despite running at 60FPS, which is apparently a problem with the game engine and it running poorly on the actual system, a problem that KF3 fixed.

That's because bloom is hardcoded at the original resolution and doesn't scale up. There's cheat codes to disable bloom, or you can always play at native resolution for muh authentic experience.

Try actually getting a CRT some time. I know, I know, they're old, right? There's no way that the image could be better than your garish 1080p widescreen hack, right?

It's impossible to fathom that scanlines might actually serve as the perfect way to break up jagged edges, or that an electron beam and phosphors might actually be better at displaying color than liquid crystal, or that blacks could actually BE black.

I mean, why would everyone have switched if LCDs weren't better, right?

It's an exploration-focused drama story about the post-apocalypse with some poor combat. The first half has great environments and interesting characters and a very oppressive feeling of loneliness but it then shits itself in the second half with endless grey corridors and a weak progression of the story.
It's okay. Probably worth playing through just for the environments and music.

I'm assuming you're talking arcade monitors, because the idea of running a 15khz signal into a PC CRT is so stupid it gives me brain problems. Arcade monitors are insanely expensive, weigh a ton, and pretty much all have burn-in issues if they've been even lightly used in the past 20 years. Meanwhile, broadcast and professional grade CRTs are routinely available for under 10 bucks in most places on Earth, with picture qualities that are miles better.
