No. Emulate the cube version. You can get it widescreen, but more importantly you can remove that effect where the textures get worse as they get further away from you. When you remove that effect the game's surprisingly beautiful.

I don't know. I do know that it seems like the music is a little weird on emulation, but that might just be using a headset instead of an old CRT TV back when I first played the game on console. I probably could have tweaked more settings as well.

It does. The cube version was on one disc, where the DC was on two, and supposedly they had to compress the audio to fit everything on there. I was wondering if there was ever going to be a GC ROM with the Dreamcast audio swapped in (The official soundtrack doesn't even have all the songs, so getting all the music at the highest quality might not be very easy).

Never liked JRPGs, but I played this on Dreamcast when Dreamcast was still a thing. It was one of the only three games I ever owned on DC:

Dreamcast version has better audio (Which helps because the soundtrack is quite good), and if your VMU is functioning, there's a mini-game you can play on it to earn extra items that you can transfer onto your console.
Cube version has worse audio, but has better visuals (Though you may not really notice unless they're side-by-side). In place of the VMU game, it has quite a bit more content, mainly a lot more boss battles (Some that add to the backstory) that will be more challenging, as the main game can be pretty easy.
Both have their strengths, but either version is very enjoyable none the less.
I have to finish this game one day, I left it before the final dungeon. A good JRPG without doubt.
The best part was finding the discoveries and explore the world in general.
I had it on the GC. Loved it. Had a friend who owned both, said he preferred the GC version of the two. It was pretty generic, but I love airships and the general aesthetic of the game did it for me.

The only downside to this game was the rate that random battles occurred on the overworld is pretty obnoxious. it kills the vibe of the game. I want to fly around this cool world at my leisure. It got to the point where when I would see an uncharted island off int he distance I almost didn't want to fly over there to see what it was because I knew there would be 40 random battles just to get over there and check it out.
Ont he Gamecube version there's an item you can get fairly early on from a npc that flies around the first town, the item completly eliminates random battles on the overworld. I was worried I might become a bit underleveled but this was not the case, you get enough XP in the dungeons, the overworld XP is not even needed.
I would highly recommend the GC version because of that one item they added.

This is the one I used by Performance that I would recommend. It worked with almost all of my games, except for stuff like King of Fighters (But I do remember it working with Mark of the Wolves and CvS2. 2D games however don't really look that good on it since they come out very pixelated, save for Guilty Gear X since that game had a much higher native resolution and looked really good through VGA). Adapters that are just cables that need to upscale the resolution usually don't work very well, if at all (Especially if it's going to a display that uses a different video signal).
Skies was great. It lacked a lot of the superangst on the side of both the heroes and the villains, which made them feel a lot like real people just doing their things. Plus the setting and the exploration and the ship battles were all amazing.

Trails in the Sky gives those feels (playing SC right now), but is not for everyone. It has a slow beginning, and some people find FC as a glorified prologue to SC.
Even with that, Trails has remembered me why I love the JRPG games. And now that both FC and SC can be played, is a good moment to give it a try.

I played this on dreamcast and the random encounters were pure madness. Not only were random encounter so fucking often but from the screen that initiated the random encounter to the actual battle I wated around for a minute for it to actually start.
