video games helped me connect with other people when I was in school so I'd say they were more of a help
never because I've always had a social life
Implying it wasn't western society as a whole.

But how can inanimate objects ruin lives? Isn't it the people behind their use that are to blame?
Video games didn't do it, me being a lazy fucker who always takes the path of least resistance did it. But really, can you blame me? It's just conservation of energy, a natural occurrence once all immediate needs are met. I had no great purpose or plight, no one kicked me out of the house, I didn't father a child to support, no great war happened that I got drafted into, no business opportunities arose, etc. I just spend the time sitting at home, because I could and nothing was there to stop me. What's so bad about living a minimal and peaceful life?
I tried to blend in though, and it just didn't work out. The worst years of my adult life were spent working full time, paying bills, and being married. I'm just glad I made it out of that 'normie' phase without any kids or lost assets, just a clean split and I'm back to NEET at my parents house again.
Sometimes you just need some perspective.
my life is good and video games are good
it will get better guys

the trick is, don't trade one addiction for another.
that is, if you are addicted to vidya.

It's all escapism. Video games are great for entertainment in your downtime or even to make a career out of, but once you use anything to dodge other problems you've already lost.
if you let video games ruin your life you were a pathetic piece of shit waste of life in the first place
